I don't hate Kerr. I think Millions and Loubardios were better than Kerr. I have also seen an improvement in Kerr from start to end of this season. He is a rookie play by play guy, don't expect perfection from him right off the bat. He has shown growth, he is trying new things and not everything is going to work for him. He'll be good some day, but some people are just so closed minded they won't forget what they thought of him during the month of October of 2011 and will continue to berate Kerr. Too bad.
If my team is going to continue to suck I atleast want to hear some enthusiasm and enjoyment from watching the games. Kerr is either going down on the mic so we can't hear him, or screaming into it. And his forced dialogue with "as I said" Charlie Simmer is painful to listen too. I want some chemistry between the people I am forced to listen too. Even my wife who watches says it is embarrassing from a casual fan (which she is) since it sounds so bush league.
If the product on the ice is going to put me to sleep, it should be the job of Sportsnet to provide a service that is entertaining in the area that THEY control.
Christ, what is Jim Ross doing? He would make a fantastic announcer. I rather here that this game is going to be a sloberknocker then Nerdlinger putting me to sleep.

He is a very good radio personality but not pbp tv guy. Bring back Peter Lou.
And how the hell SN has not fixed the out of sync problem of the centre ice wide shot camera. Jesus!
Yeah, bring back Lou! At least he had some passion and zip in hs PBP calls. Listening to Kerr desribe the on going play is like watching paint dry - boring and dull!

it pains me to say this because Rob Kerr seems like a decent guy but man he's painful to listen to. He called what was perhaps the biggest game of the season, against LA earlier this week like a spring training baseball game. I miss Loubardias.
I said this in a post earlier this year and i'll say it again. Sportsnet ruined both 960 and the flames broadcast this year by moving Kerr. Go back to 960 Rob, you were awesome there.

Granted I think Kerr doesn't have the major league PBP voice. He's best suited as a host or doing PBP for minor league games.
But if you're going to replace him, sho in the talent pool can you replace Kerr with? I'm sure Sportsnet would want to go with someone they have working experience with. Can't bring back old guys like Millions and Loubardias I'd imagine. So who's ready to be the next voice of the Calgary Flames?
Some1thing tells me Kerr is gone next season. Not sure who the replacement will be, but I've got a good feeling Kerr will not be calling games on a full time basis next year.

For selfish reasons (because I have the FAN on all day), I want to see him back on the radio instead of Bryn. As to who replaces him... as long as it's not Loumbardias...
I'll never understand the hatred some people hold for on-air personalities. It's just silly.
I've been watching hockey long enough to see the quality of play-by-play announcers in this market decline dramatically. Most today simply do not have broadcasting voices. You need more qualifications for the job than being a knowledgeable hockey geek.
I remember when every Canadian NHL broadcast was head and shoulders above American broadcasts. But the professionalism I hear on NBC today is way better than Sportsnet.
I guess it's a matter of supply and demand. There are probably three times as many NHL broadcast crews working in Canada today than there was in 1986. Sadly, there isn't three times as much talent.
I'm not sure how Simmer has somehow survived the purges at Rogers. Even if they do manage to bring in someone to replace Kerr, I sure hope that Simmer is not coming back.
Being a 'former member of the triple crown line' is probably the only memorable thing about the guy and his commentary. He adds ZERO hockey insight to the broadcast and speaks as if he is talking to a group to disabled children.
Without a word of a lie, there are CPers on here who would do a far better job than he does, who've majored broadcasting.
I thought Kerr got better as the season progressed. Conroy would be awesome as an analyst or color guy, but he's better off personally with the Flames front office I'm sure.
Listen moron. This site is about opinons. This is mine.
You've been on this site for what, a whole month, and you're already making declarations about what this site is and calling a long established poster a moron?
