2nd seems to be the current implications. Bozon was ranked 39th.

Well, if we find a way to get a 2nd round pick, I'd love to pick him up...

Midterm-ranked 39th in North American skaters. His dad played in the NHL a few years back.
Sorry...just noticed other post.

He's 39th in NA skaters. I think about 5-7 European skaters get drafted in the typical 1st...this puts him about middle of the road (46-48, if the same pace continues into the 2nd) for overall position.
I wouldn't mind the Flames taking him...he's a little weak in his own end, but he plays with a chip on his shoulder, can skate pretty well, and certainly has good talent. I enjoy watching him since he never stops moving and doesn't mind dropping the gloves. So far, he's reminded me a bit of Cammalleri in play style.

Bozon has some tools, but is sneeky dirty.
Watched the Royals vs Blazers series on SHAW (yes, I still watch my boys even though the WHL is a bunch of crooks who ripped our team away), and he threw a reverse elbow - while maintaining the puck, that would make Triple H impressed. No penalty (likely because he is a Euro, but still, very dirty). Reminds me a little of Shinniman...who I think will have a very short Pro-Career after someone rips his head off for his antics.
Hopefully Howse isn't too badly banged up. I think now you all can see why I said you would love the guy. Great hands, great heart, good hockey IQ, but also that he is more than just a "scoring machine" like many have type cast him as. Its been a tough season. Not every 20 year old comes in and makes an immediate impact, but I think that from the ALL-STAR break on, he has made an impact. A summer of rehab/conditioning and working on things with his buddies McKinlay (OA Free Agent (drafted - unsigned) Banging Forward with the Ice) and Horak...man that would be a great line to re-unite, and really the sky is the limit with Ryan. Horak was Pro-ready last season in Chilliwack, but because of his Czech Contract, he couldn't play in the NHL last season.
With Howse, you have a diamond in the rough. As long as he can remain healthy, and is polished just right, he will look much better that his 3rd round draft position.
To bad Calgary didn't sign Brandon Manning last season as an OA Free Agent, they could have used a tough, leadership, defensively sound with offensive tendancies D-man (after missing the first 24 games due to injury - likely the carry over from last seasons playoff run...like Howse, he played hurt, but he needed surgery in the off-season, has now played 40 games in the AHL, 6 goals, 9 Assists, -7, 92 SOG and 81 minutes in Penalties. Add in...NHL Stats of 4 games +1, 6 SON and 6 hits...as a 20 year old...I think he would have seriously helped the Flames organization considerably.
It would be nice to re-unite the boys and have them show the world how good they are playing together. Oh, the good times.

With the way he's come on in the last few months and continues to elevate his game in the post season, he's trending upwards at all the right times. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as a late first/early second.

I'm really hoping for Faksa. Like Baertschi last season, this was his first season playing in North America. I remember Baertschi talking about the adjustment period on the different ice and how he felt more comfortable this year. It's not a factor you can compleltey discount. I think Faksa will have a dominant season next year.

The thing I like most about Faksa isn't his skill. It's his size. The kid is huge for an 18 year old. The best part is he could be that much needed #1C the Flames need.
But, ever since Erixon bitched out, the Flames need defensive prospects.
It's going to be a tough call for Feaster and the scouting staff.

I like that there are some tough choices for management. For some reason I have a lot of faith in their new ranking system. Will be very interesting to see who we take with that first pick. Regardless who is taken its fair to assume it will be a rearguard with size and skill or a skilled forward.
As others have said I would like to see us pick up some 2nd, 3rd, 4th round picks. Ugh the draft is 3 months away, I hate the Canucks.

I think the Flames will draft BPA - but will probably skip whomever is on the list if it is a LW or a Goalie. I think organizationally, the Flames need Defence, Centers and RWs, I think anyways. I am really interested with who we get this year in every round. It seems the Flames often pick players from the same teams they have been scouting or already have prospects playing with. Anyone in the Kootenay Ice or Portland Winterhawks of note? Brandon? Wouldn't surprise me if there were a couple of picks from those teams.

That's a good point.
Other than the obvious ones, Griffin Reinhart (Edmonton), Derrick Pouliot (Portland), I think two others look decent in the later rounds.
You have Tyrel Seaman in Brandon, 6'2" 196lb centre. Had 8 points in 52 games in 2010-11, and although played only 32 games this year due to a concussion he had 19 points.
Also, Alessio Bertaggia plays for Brandon as well. 5'8" 160lbs, 50 points in his rookie season.

Big fan of Bertaggia, especially with his play in the playoffs. Plays a bit ferocious for his size. The thing to keep in mind with him, though, is that he's re-entering the draft. He was first eligible in 2011.

Bertaggia was ranked at 122 among North American skaters in the midterm rankings. Could be an interesting option for one of the later rounds.

as we have talked about Bertaggia, Seaman and Bozon before - here is where Central Scouting has ranked them in their final rankings (among NA skaters):
Bozon #42
Seaman #104
Bertaggia #164
We don't have a second-rounder, and Bozon surely won't be available when we pick at #74. Seaman and Bertaggia could be options for later rounds though.

I was able to catch that small report on Brandon Gaunce on TSN last night. According to many of the rankings and mock drafts, he should be landing in the 12-15 range. I wouldn't mind at all if Feaster and co. drafted him. Seems like a real team guy and is big and physical. We need a big centerman who can score in the Flames system.

Honestly, he really doesn't strike me as "high end skills" type of guy. It's great that he's got size and character and intangibles but these are qualities that you can trade for cheaply. To me Gaunce sounds an awful lot like a Nemiecz, which I guess is fine, if you are drafting in the bottom half of the first round, but if you are in the top half, I think you have to go with the most skilled guy available.
The Flames' problem over the years is that they have gone too often to the prospect with "character and intangibles" and really they should just be looking at skill. If a high skill guy has character and intangibles as well, ala Bartschi, then perfect.
Emphasis should be on skill, always. That's the most valuable currency in the trade market. You can usually a trade top 6 skilled guy for 2 bottom six "character" guys.

I thought the Flames were going for High Hockey IQ and Hockey Sense, ala Gaudreau?
