A Berlin home appliance store tries to get some publicity by having a nude woman stand in the store.
No one notices.
"People are used to seeing outrageously enlarged breasts and pierced penises on TV," observed the Berliner Zeitung. "A wholesome-looking but topless young woman at an appliance mart just cannot compete with the shocking fare people see in their own living rooms."
And other wacky news of the day.

people in europe ARE used to seeing this kind of thing, since nudity isn't the big boogie-man that it is here in North America. In fact it tends to be violence that is more frowned upon ( unlike here ), which I think makes a little more sense considering one is a natural part of life while there other showcases the harshest part of our humanity.

North America, or just America?
I find most TV programs here in the good ol Can-a-da tend to have a pretty relaxed approach to nudity on TV. Many a sunday afternoons ta-ta's can be seen on Showcase or Bravo etc.
Then you have TBS which will cencor the word poop.

Sorry, T5, but there is nothing natural about a penis with a bolt stuck through it. O_o

and what's natural about constantly being exposed to the barage of hardcore acts of violence in our society? Our kids are exposed to 10,000 instances of violence on TV every year, yet people here are constantly causing a big hub-bub over every exposed nipple. You bet I'd rather let my kids watch some hardcore porn ( and even the odd penis-bolt ) over watching the terminator or whatever the hell blow the living sh*t out of everything....atleast sex ( and all its permutations ) is a part of life, while violence just tends to lead to the end of it.
I realize you were half-kidding with that comment, but anyhoo....

well, as usual, Canada is somewhat of a bridge between Europe and NA. The more time i spend in the States though, the more I realize how much Canada leans toward europe in this regard....and I live in a pretty damn liberal part of the country.
My girlfrined is a DJ at a college radio station, and they too have to make sure no dirty words get said on the air....no matter what hour. Compare that to some of the stuff that gets played on CJSW, and I start pining for the old-country.

T5....just think about a bolt through your johnson for a minute. That's the only thing that generated my comment.
I'll forgive you and let you know I didn't read your reply. :P

During my volunteer time/summer job at CJSW I was impressed when they told us "If you feel you have to swear, then have at it... but just to keep it cool during the day, but at night.. go right on ahead" God bless campus radio.
Canada seems to have a happy medium between Europe and the states, like you said, a bridge. Most off-colour words don't offend me, except for that c word describing a female body part. I can't stand that word. And I don't care what someone things of me... but I don't want to see hardcore porn in the evening while flipping through for the nightly news.

When I was in Germany I was shockled to see graphic gay sex with close ups on TV in primetime. This is nothing.
and Yes I changed the channel after figuring what the hell I was watching.

Lol, I think we would have wondered LESS about you if you HADN'T added that last line.
'I didn't like it, I swear!!!'
Besides, who cares.
