I never get the characters I want either, I have 5 left to unlock and 4 of them I want to play as, but every time I unlock someone new its someone useless like the Turian Sentinal or something.

I can't believe how many people I've seen that have lvl X (10) weapons or VIII or IX, its insane, I don't even have a lvl II yet.
I agree that it would be nice to be able to purchase specific things. Not a huge fan of the default assault riffle. I'd much rather be able to go out and buy a Mattock. So getting a lvl X weapon is entirely random? Awesome

I played multiplayer for the first time last night and my impression of it was pretty meh. I wasn't really expecting anything but it seems pretty uninspired. I still wish they had left multiplayer out all together and instead used those resources to add to the campaign. I haven't finished my playthrough yet and hearing all this talk about how terrible the ending is has me worried. The game has been a blast so far. My only complaint is that there are no cities to visit (aside from the Citadel).

Weapon upgrades work like this: if you get a weapon you already have in a pack, it'll go up to the next rank.

I was also reading that the optimal way to spend your credits is to buy nothing but Recruit packs until you've unlocked all the classes and ranked up all the starter weapons to X (the more advanced weapons don't appear in recruit packs). That way when you do start buying Veteran and Spectre packs, you'll be guaranteed to get better stuff rather than a just a new rank of one of the starter weapons.

I heard the multiplayer component was developed by a different team and was originally going to be a standalone game, but they instead decided to include it as a "value add" in ME3. Some of the MP resources did get used in SP, too (all the MP maps double as side mission levels in the campaign).

At least two of the Priority missions take place in dense urban environments, but the Citadel is the only are that's still "peaceful" with vendors and such.

While BW has stated that this was the last Sheppard Mass Effect game, I'm sure that we'll see other stories from the Mass Effect universe.

Anyone want to bet that we'll eventually see a Mass Effect MMO

i don't want Bioware/EA making another MMO, unless they're not afraid to try new things

If BioWare wants to make another ME game, that lends credence to the idea that there will be a new ending available via DLC.

ME3 spoilers and speculation about future sequels below:

So if you get a weapon leveled up to X it is removed from the packs that you purchase? That would be ideal.

I instantly recognized those multiplayer maps as the side mission locations from the single player. It makes sense story wise why these N7 squads are fighting it out in these locations but its still felt pretty bland. I'll give it some more play time but I was never big on adding a multiplayer component to a single player RPG.

As for the cities, I always enjoyed roaming through the various cities in previous Bioware games. Getting side quests and finding new merchants in those locations was a nice break from the main story. The exploration factor has really been watered down over the last two games. It makes sense given the situation. I just wish there was a few places I could visit. The whole Spectre terminal really makes me think of how side missions could have played in the series. It would have been neat if you could have picked up Spectre missions in ME2.

I can't confirm it from first-hand experience (I only have one rank X weapon so far), but that's what I read. I certainly hope that's how it works.

ROFL... some guy on the Bioware forums speant $320 (yes, real money) on Spectre packs and was finally able to unlock everything. I think Bioware just gave him everything after they found out how much he spent.

So picture the rat in his box. Or, since I'm one of these gamers and don't like to think of myself as a rat, picture an adorable hamster. Maybe he can talk, and is voiced by Chris Rock.

If you want to make him press the lever as fast as possible, how would you do it? Not by giving him a pellet with every press--he'll soon relax, knowing the pellets are there when he needs them. No, the best way is to set up the machine so that it drops the pellets at random intervals of lever pressing. He'll soon start pumping that thing as fast as he can. Experiments prove it.

See? Proof.
They call these "Variable Ratio Rewards" in Skinner land and this is the reason many enemies "drop" valuable items totally at random in WoW. This is addictive in exactly the same way a slot machine is addictive. You can't quit now because the very next one could be a winner. Or the next. Or the next.

Finally working on the Qurian missions. And yup, it sounds like I did the wrong thing to heretics in ME 2. First Maleon's data and now this. Clearly I suck.

Edit: I don't suck, Marcus Shepard sucks. Tries so hard to do what's right, and ends up screwing himself.

I just read an article on Evil Avatar that said Amazon is offering refunds for ME3. Even including the PC version. You can read it here:
