Rangers 4 - Sharks 4

Well the Rangers totally dominated the game outshooting the Sharks 37-17 but Roman Chechmanek stole the show. In the Second period the Rangers had a 17-2 shot advantage but only could manage 1 goal.

Rangers are in a 5 game in 5 night streach and today was the 3rd game. The Coach decided to give Roloson the game off. Noronen received the start but had a very poor game letting in 4 goals on 17 shots. The plan is to make sure Roloson is 100% healthy and rested against his former team the Islanders.

Robert Lang played his first game and had 1 goal and 1 assist and was named the second star of the game. Not to bad for is first game.

Next Game against the Islanders

Reality Check

The Wild have indeed been hot, but perhaps its been a bit misleading. Most of their wins of late have largely come against weaker non-playoff opponents.

On Friday though the team faced a much stiffer test - the Hurricanes - and failed.

Brent Johnson had his first bad games as a member of the Wild and Iginla was held off the scoresheet as he continues to pursue the CPHL goal record.

Daniel Sedin did have two goals for the team in a losing effort.

Things do not get any easier for the squad as they face Calgary tomorrow. Matthias Ohlund and Dom Hasek remain out with injury.

Ha, ha the fix is in!!!! Niclas Wallin with 2 assists and +4. Dan Fritsche with 1 goal and 1 assist +2 and Mike Dunham stepping up to stop 33 of 35 shots gives us a 4-2 win over the Panthers. Aaron Asham, Scott Nichol, and Tom Kostopolus score goals as well. Panthers have to be fuming that the Devils 4th line burned them for 2 goals today. Now we will wait till next week to win another game.

That's two in a row ladies and gents. The Dallas Stars 1st round pick will be worthless by the time the season ends. Arnason has a decent game in his first as a Star, or at least put some shots toward the net. Matthew Barnaby continues his strong play and showcasing his talent in an attempt to be traded to a contender, netting a goal and an assist. Iowa continues to impress getting a 7-0 shutout win over Cincinnati.

Blechhhh..... a Sister kisser!

Oilers and Thrash play a snoozefest!

Well after all the hype, all the hyperbole, and all the hope, the game itself turned into nothing more than...well the Hilton sisters!

A 2-2 score with minimal penalties and shots that were 32-30 Oil ended up putting the Georgia crowd to sleep. Denis Gauthier scored his 6th of the year from Brendan Shanahan late in the first helping the Thrash take a 1-0 lead into the break.
Jay Bouwmeester tied it at ones half way through the second on a setup by Marian Hossa before Shanahan potted his own goal 20 seconds before the end of the period. This allowed the Thrash to hold a 2-1 lead going into the third.
Zdeno Chara took a double minor for High Sticking Marian (Im not a girl) Hossa at 1:47 of the 3rd period and Patrice Bergeron tied the game just before the double minor ended. The rest of the period saw little to no action and the teams went to overtime. The Oilers took 3 shots from cenbtre ice and killed off a penalty to Bouwmeester in OT and the two teams skated off with a lacklustre 2-2 tie.

Blechhhhhhhh

Goalie Statistics Martin Brodeur (OIL), 28 saves out of 30 shots, T, 48-14-4
Patrick Lalime (THR), 30 saves out of 32 shots, T, 47-16-3

Power Play Conversions
OILERS 1 for 5
THRASHERS 0 for 5

Game Stars
1 - Patrick Lalime (THR)
2 - Martin Brodeur (OIL)
3 - Peter Bondra (THR)

Thrashers next game vs the Flyers in Philadelphia tomorrow night for their 4th game in 5 nights.

Bird Poop

Rumors were leaked that a member of the press overheard GM Peterson in a heated discussion with Goalie Patrick Lalime after the game. It is rumored that the GM had told Patty that a deal had been reached to trade him to a team out of the playoff race for a young and upcoming goalie. Nothing further could be heard.

Scott Niedermayer could resume skating as early as today.
Niedermayer had the meniscus removed from his right knee on February 13 after playing in pain since injuring it in mid-December. While he had what he called a "setback" a few days ago when swelling reappeared, Niedermayer said he is happy with the progress. "We're going to do our thing every day," he said. "Try not to do too much but try to test it as well." The original recovery period was expected to be three or four weeks. Niedermayer says he believes he's right on schedule. Nieds anticipates being back in the Thrashers lineup before their last regular season game vs the Penguins.

Unbreafreakinleavable! Whats with the Wings getting peppered latley. And not being able to light the lamp. Is this the 2nd or 3rd 7-1 loss in a row. Only good thing about todays scores is every other team fighting for a playoff spot lost as well except the Jackets. More changes coming in Detroit I think. We still need a goalie and good god is that defence WEAK!

Wow that sucked…….. well not that bad. A 2 - 2 tie with the Thrash keeps the fan favorite Oil in the hunt for the Hilton coin, a loss would be hard to make up with only ten games left. The Trash doesn’t give many opportunities to gain a point these days. In the last ten games the Oil have gained only one point on the Trash who has been in a funk.

Oil news:

The “magic number” to clinch the Howe is 6 (well actually 5.5) . Any combination of 6 Oil wins or Flame losses.

“The machine” is expected back SOON.

Sergie has decided to take the last two weeks off..... To tend to his sore foot…… wimp!

Next up: the Jackets tomorrow night in Edmonton. (5th game in 5 nights)

Another loss in LA, Kings look to rebound against Dallas. Hanging on by the narrowest of margins at this point.

Things seem to be coming around in Tampa as of late as guys are playing for next years jobs. A close loss to the highly ranked Oilers followed up by this hard fought win over the Kings has lifted the morale in the Bolts dressing room.

Perhaps some of the vets are showcasing themselves in hopes of being moved to a playoff team. Droopy will take the wins none the less.
