How about if you don't want to allow anyone into the country EXCEPT Asians?

Don't worry Mikey, I didn't come to any conclusions on you based on a single post. That would be silly seeing as you have so many posts upon which to reach these conclusions.

When did living in the NE on welfare become a luxury?

We've established this. His grandparents poured their blood, sweat, and tears into taming the unforgiven Canadian prairie. They had to prove the land was fruitful. They government gave them this land because of their tireless efforts. It was a reward, not a government program (handout) to promote immigration.

I think a better catch-all would be women beach volleyball players. No exceptions.

I have no problem with people criticizing immigration when it's based on logic and factual information. What I detest is ignorance wrapped up in frail economic arguments.

To be fair to mikey and Rerun, it's not as much racism as it is nativism, but it's just as ignorant.

Canada must first and foremost protect its own citizens and ensure that newcomers acquire the necessary language skills (and recognition of foreign credentials) before they arrive in the country. Only then can they play a constructive and productive role in Canadian society, instead of becoming a burden on already-overtaxed Canadians, as 77 per cent are today at a cost to the taxpayer of $16 to $23 billion a year (which doesn’t include the immense cost of dealing with the consequences of the crimes some of these people commit in Canada).
Immigration’s prime objective is to benefit the host country, and not those who come here. If they benefit, too, great, but if they refuse to pull their weight and do what’s required of them, they should be asked to leave, rather than hung around Canadians’ necks like a big fat albatross.

We're overtaxed? Hardly. In fact I think we should be taxed more. Then we can have a welfare state that actually functions properly.
But what do I know. I'm a closet socialist.

The myth that Canadians are overtaxed is one of the worst perpetuated across the country, especially when it comes from Albertans.

This is not the first time the "immigrants = crime" angle has been mentioned in this thread, but nobody has posted hard evidence to support this claim. Are there any statistics that show immigrants commit crimes at a greater rate than native-born Canadians of similar social-economic status?

But yes, let's cut all social programs and tax each other less. Then that way when you're retired you won't be able to to take train rides, or have multiple options for lunch or travel to Montana to discover the churches are locked. All you'll have is First Lady's avatar.

Not picking on you but I have always wondered what happens if the country they are from doesn't want to take them back. Maybe they renounced their original citizenship when they were granted a Canadian citizenship and are now stateless.
Do we just put them on a raft and push them out to sea or is there some country that will take in the worlds stateless people (Palestine maybe).
Once someone is a citizen they should all be equal. I can't believe that some people are advocating for two classes of citizens.
