I thought things were going pretty well for them once Lin came around, but man, Dolan's messed around with professional sports for years and has been horrible. Can't help he has his hand in contributing to this move.

This is another sweet move as it concerns the Raptors. They get rid of Barbosa earlier and now the Nets get stronger.

On the other hand, it also means that Portland definitely are not letting Batum get away this offseason, which might have been a possibility if they were keeping Wallace long-term. Nets are desperate for a big move that will convince Deron Williams to stay, and honestly I don't think Gerald Wallace is a big enough move.

Interesting aside to the Dwight Howard story: after Howard said yesterday that he was going to renounce his ETO and commit to Orlando for next season, his agent Dan Fegan came out and said that this was not the case and that Howard hadn't understood the full ramifications of this move. Today, Howard confirms that he is indeed waiving his ETO, and according to ESPN the contract amendment is going ahead without Fegan signing off. I'm reading this as Fegan thinking he could control Howard and force him into free agency, and is pissed that his client is doing what he thinks is right.

Lakers finally get a Point Guard - wouldn't be surprised to see Blake dealt now for a small forward. Mitch Kupchak should be exec of the year for finding someone take Luke's contract

Likely that there is another Laker deal or they will be paying the tax which they said they were not willing to do.

So Lakers essentially trades two first round draft picks and Fisher for Sessions, Hill and Eyenga? Guess they also got rid of that Walton albatross contract, but still, that's a lot to give up for a mediocre return.

I think Washington made a great trade in getting Nene for McGee and Turiaf. Nene's the sort of experienced guy that can really anchor that team and help them out long-term. McGee's rumoured to want 14.5 million on his next contract... I'd much rather have Nene at 13.

Orlando's probably the big winner today, getting at least a year more to try to put a winner around Howard.

Portland's day is about what you'd expect from a team with no real GM, a hyperemotional owner, just coming off an embarrassing 40 point loss... Fire the coach, trade two starters for a mixed bag of projects and injured players. Flynn's a solid pickup for them, but now they've got even more of a glut at PG/SG. We'll see how it shakes out, but they don't look better now than they did yesterday, unless these moves have miraculously healed all their locker-room problems.
-edit: guess Flynn has a team option for next year. But after today, Portland has less than $25 million committed for next year. They'll be after every big free agent out there. And they've had to waive Greg Oden to make room on their roster. Too bad for him to leave Portland that way, but I'm sure someone else will pick him up if he's willing to continue rehabbing.

Also like Indiana picking up Barbosa. Great guy to have for a playoff run.

Nene was the 2nd big name FA centre after Tyson last year. Why did Denver get rid of him?

A big part of it is Wilson Chandler. By moving Nene now, they got enough space to sign Chandler to a long-term deal, rather than waiting until the offseason. Can they re-sign both McGee and Gallinari this summer? Do they plan on letting one or both of them walk?

But in the short term, I still don't like it. Chandler gives them more depth in positions they're already deep in, while the loss of Nene will make them play a lot smaller.

Memphis signs Gilbert Arenas for the remainder of the season, better get used to locker room shootings and him taking a dump in somebody's shoes.

Can you say awkard? Stan Van Gundy says Dwight Howard wants him fired, only to have Dwight Howard come and hug him. The drama in Orlando lives on?
