Fixing a camera

Hey guys, just wondering if someone who knows could give me some advice.

Last year while travelling I accidently cracked the screen on my camera. It is pretty much just a black screen now with a little bit of light when you turn it on. The camera is decent, nothing too fancy, I am just wondering if it would be worth it to fix (how much?) or if I would be better off getting a new camera altogether?

In any case, we'd need to know what camera you have to give any helpful advice.
My guess is it's best to replace it. You can get very good P&S cameras for $250 these days.

Sad thing is most consumer electronics are designed to not be user serviceable these days. A lot of those plastic casings that go on some of the cheaper cameras are snap together so the cases just break when you take them apart and don't clip back together as well.

Even if you can find someone to repair it, I doubt it will cost less in time and money than just buying a new one. Unless of course you're talking about one of those high high end DSLRs, those might be worth fixing.

typically for stuff like this, you're better off just purchasing a new camera.

i'd try calling a specialty camera store and ask. might not hurt to google your make of camera and your issue, just to see what thoughts are out there in cyberspace.....

Check ifixit and see if they have a guide for your model.

I bought a screen for mine for about $40. It was finicky, but didn't take more than an hour.
