Left over from the fallen sign at the Husky building, or something new? Or was Husky building 8 Street?

I'm assuming it is still due to the signage on the Husky building falling off. The CFD's high angle rescue team couldn't secure the rest of it in the high winds yesterday.

That's probably it but why would Global and CTV still be there though?

Because this isn't the first time the Husky building has had this issue, and I heard on the news that they would most likely be fined this time.
That and some major roads are closed to street and pedestrian traffic, so kind of news worthy.

So that you don't need to come on CP to find out what is going on...

I remember a few months ago there was a big wind storm and 8th ave was closed because they were worried about the Husky Oil sign falling down.
It didn't fall down at the time, but they don't seem to have taken adequate measures to secure it... I get the feeling that heads should roll for this. We can't keep closing DT every time it gets windy. All signs should be properly secured, or we are going to have another little girl killed.

Different sign this time - which is actually probably worse.

The issue is with a piece of aluminum sheeting that didn't fall but isn't secure. That's why the FD has to go up and bring it down.

I'm pretty sure the bird screen around the sign was the issue at that time.

Ah ok, that makes sense. Still, I'm betting there will be a fine.

Kind of a strange bump, but here's the sign from my office. Spoiler for big photo.
