^ I haven't got to this mission yet, but I'm already positive I'm going to be frustrated/dissapointed with it since I don't have my ME2 savegame. It's already annoying enough having Liara talk to me like we've never met and tell me all about her time infiltrating the Shadow Broker WHEN I WAS THERE... ugh. It'd be nice if there was a way to download other people's savegame files or set your own settings on a big checklist pre-game or something. I barely have the time that I'd like to devote to this game, definitely don't have the time to re-play ME2 to the full extent I did the first time around... but if it starts to frustrate me enough I might have to.
if you're on the PC or Xbox 360 version, you're in luck
How does one change the galaxy preparedness map? Mine always just says system offline 50%. Am i missing something? How do i get it to work and increase the level?

You need to play multiplayer to have that rating go higher. The most important factor is your "Effective Military Strength".
Who else is upset with the way they treated the Rachni? I thought it would be this huge deal to save the Queen, then the only mission that deals with them is a side mission where Grunt gets pissed at you for saving them over his crew, then all you get for saving the Rachni is 70 military strength. That's ridiculous. I got 800 each for helping the Krogan and Turians.
That hologram device in Liara's room keeps telling me I have new information on that damn computer but all the computer says is Upgrades with 0 credits. What is up with that? Is that also some multiplayer thing?

There's the upgrade terminal, and another that has emails/communications(it's right beside Liara), not sure if that could be the terminal that Glyph is referring to.
I'm at endgame, but i may not play it and go back and restart with one of those save games listed above. Also log into the multiplayer so the war map works correctly. I have a feeling i have a pretty low effective military power compared to what you need. I think going into endgame i had 2700 effective. I ran essentially every mission except a couple that timed out, and i think that one of them made me miss out on Jack as well.
While this game looks interesting, this is the reason I will probably not purchase the game. Really irks me from EA.
wow, over dramatic much? the main character files were on the disc, as well as the voice files (which were done at the same time as the rest of the game). the actual mission where you recruit the Prothean however was not, and that makes up the bulk of the 600mb download. to boycott such an incredible game over a trivial issue like this is just silly

It is and it isn't. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, because I want to like Bioware I really do, but this is right in the EA wheelhouse and is a big reason/part of why EA is losing to Activision and why they are reviled. Day one DLC that has proof it may not have had to be day one DLC is damning.

haha, EA and Activision, it's like comparing bull poop to horse poop.

EA is losing to Activision? I don't want EA to lose to Activision, I want them to lose to Valve.

It's the principle. Don't lie to my face and expect me to like it.
Metacritic is having such a negative backlash because of this kind of thing and the ending right now.
Mass Effect 2 had day 1 DLC, Zaeed and Normandy Crash Site, I purchased the Collector's edition for both so I didn't have to pay the "extra" any way. If you don't want the DLC or think EA is screwing you over, don't get it, it's not like it's critical to the game.
Apparently the ending is where this game fails big time, I have no idea (except that it's bleak) as I'm just helping the Quarians now, but the internet is ablaze with anger over how the game ends. I bet it's an EA/Bioware ploy to get another $10 out of us for "Rainbows and Unicorns Ending DLC"
It's very rare for me to buy DLC. Even in games that I've logged a ton of hours I am very hesitant to buy DLC. Mostly because I feel that they're over priced and they rarely see drops in price (except on Steam). $15 for 4 maps is what I consider a rip off. Especially when 2 of them are just remakes.
With that said, I've bought pretty much all of the Mass Effect DLC over the years (except for those skins in 2) because to me, they've been worth it. I've probably put well over 200 hours into these games so it's been something to freshen my playthroughs. I've also bought a couple MS point cards when they were half off at Superstore in anticipation of all the DLC for ME3 so in a way I am not paying full price for any I buy.
As for day 1 dlc, I can't say I am surprised anymore nor do I care. For a game like this I am just glad they have post launch content. In terms of companies nickel and diming their customers EA doesn't even come close to being the worst. I can't believe the kind of stuff Capcom has gotten away with over the last few years.

ya at least EA puts new characters into DLC packs that you can buy, and not making an entirely separate game at full price just for some new characters

It is funny you mention that because as soon as Street Fighter 4 was announced I knew they'd be releasing another version of the game a year later with more characters. Sure enough. I still bought both of them though. I am a sucker when it comes to Street Fighter
