You could be just like House. Which is kind of how I picture you... do you look like Hugh Laurie at all?

No. Though I've been told I look a hell of a lot like Devin Townsend, without the skullet. I have all my hair.
FWIW, I always pictured you like The King Of Queens.

Why does it always seem like a filipino's answer to everything is to marry?

I've dated a Filipina girl before. The need to breed is strong with them.

Could I not start a business and have her here on a work visa? Say if she was a voice-actor or something?

That seems like a lot of effort.

As serious a question as that is, I see a high potential for hilarity...

Check out http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp
These are the immigration catagories:
Skilled workers and professionals
For people who want to settle and work in Canada (outside of Quebec)
Quebec-selected skilled workers
For people selected by the Quebec government to settle and work in Quebec
Canadian Experience Class
For people who have recent Canadian work experience or have graduated and recently worked in Canada
Investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed people
For people who want to start a business in Canada
Provincial nominees
One of Canada’s provinces or territories can nominate you to settle and work there
Sponsoring your family
How to sponsor a family member to join you here if you are a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen
Maybe the only real way for you to help her (besides marrige) is to offer her employment yourself or arrange for employment for her, but even then she may not meet minimum requirements. What she does for Telus may help out of she is in a supervisory/management role.

But is it really so much more paper-work and start-up capital for the legalities and logistics of forming a company that would have the capability to employ people from other countries (especially for some artsy thing like voice-acting or something) on a work visa?
Looking to some of you entrepreneurs on this one.

Just because you had a problem with your phone and she helped you out doesn't make her your friend. Just saying.

Not only that, but you'll have to have legal fees for getting the work visa done, getting a Labour Market Opinion, more misc paperwork and a probable trip down to the US/Canada Border to validate her Work Visa

If she seriously wants to be a nanny, start here and get a work permit: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/caregiver/index.asp Then when she's worked the requisite number of years (I don't recall off the top of my head), apply for permanent residency
If she's a skilled worker (and can get a job offer that can be classified as a skilled occupation), there are a few other options, including the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. Getting transferred by Telus won't necessarily get her here; there's a little more to it than simply transferring someone in from another country.

Most certainly has no interest in being a nanny. Thanks though, fotze.
I agree about the transfer being complicated.

You have a hot Filipino friend, and this theory is better than a sham marriage? The marriage and subsequent divorce certainly involves less paperwork. And you get a free toaster!
