I agree - I hate it when people try to help you out

But yea, I see where you're coming from - I don't mind the 1, maybe 2 people asking if I need help (then politely refusing), but too many times by the same person would absolutely suck. And waiting in line when there's 7 people standing in line is brutal - I like getting out of there fast, and not waste my time because these people are too lazy to get on a register.

One thing I hate about shopping, especially at Old Navy in market mall, is when the stores are messy and you can't find anything...you know, like the shirt sizes aren't in order, or it looks like a f'n tornado's gone through there. It makes a bad experience worse.

I loathe clothing stores. All that fast-paced techno music combined with the people who don't leave you alone. And it is always excruciatingly hot on those stores as well.

I buy my clothing online most of the time from American eagle when they have a deal going on there.

Or i go to the Chinook or Market one to get my stuff.

I hate clothing stores. Even the bay gets annoying now..

God bless the simple yet effective clothing of Marks Work Warehouse. The one up in Brentwood only has two or three people working at a time and if you say you are just browsing, they will leave you alone.. its great.

For the winter the black or grey carthhart zip up hoodies are a favourite choice of mine. So durable, so comfortable.

I would rather have people swarm me than shop at the Bay (South Centre)... I swear I could be there for a hour looking for somthing and there won't be a single employee offer assistance. Brutal service

Or Canadian Tire where they literally turn around and bolt if they see a customer.

The thing that bugs me the most is they have lots of workers but yet when you ask them a question they give you a blank look on there face. Just like that making you seem crazy and you have to look through the whole store just to find what your looking for

I'm the anti-consumer. I don't deal with those hassles.

I shop for suits (and actively get a salesperson to help out at Harry Rosen) and shoes (and get someone to help out at the running room or at a dress shoe place) and I'm a regular at Chapters. That's it. That's all.

Otherwise, everything in our household mysteriously appears courtesy of Mrs. Cowperson, including dress my dress shirts and other clothing. I'm not too interested in that stuff.

The anti-consumer.

That SUV is about six years old and the Acura is eight years old, both running like gas guzzlin' tops.

Seriously, I blast through entire newspapers without seeing a single ad. A TV advertisement has to be pretty interesting for me not to be exercising my god given right as a male to channel surf indiscriminately until the program comes back on.

Now Mrs. Cowperson . . . . . there are catalogues all over the place in the house and she exercises her god given right as a female to tell me to stop all the channel surfing so she can watch all the ads!!

On the otherside of the cash register, I have had a few jobs in retail, and even though I get annoyed I feel for them.

More stores are going with some kind of commission based pay system. I don't know if the GAP has it or not, but most of the jobs I had went to one rather than an hourly wage. If said person didn't come and try to help you out, they would not get paid any better than the person making the clothing. OK, that is an exaggeration, but there was nothing I hated more as a retail guy than having a customer I was checking up on go to someone else, and have that person get the commision.

I don't like when they say hi when you walk in, I don't like if I am asked by three different people in the first five minutes if I need any help, and I hate when they try to add things on at the till. But, surprise, it's their job. I'm sure they hate it too, but its what is asked of them. Failure to do that could result in less hours, or no hours at all.

Having said that, I would have loved to be there when you told the Gapper off.

My girlfriend used to buy my clothes for me. In the nearly one year that I've been single I don't think I've bought a single item. I either have to break down and go shopping soon or find another girlfriend who likes that sort of thing.

I'm kind of the same way.

You know, I have NEVER bought myself underwear. I always get it for Christmas, or when my GF thinks I need new ones, she'll buy them. A little while ago, I was going to buy some and realized I didn't even know what size to buy!

No one was saying they were too interested in it Cow, we just don't have long time wives to do most of our shopping for us.

If you're going to be spending Harry Rosen prices, you damn well better get the salesperson to help you out!

How's the service there anyways? I'm always too intimidated (and poor)to go in there

HAHA, I guess as a woman I have a different opinion than you gents. But I do know what it feels like to get swarmed by sales people at the gap. One particular time I was looking for jeans and the sales woman repeatedly encouraged me to try on 5 different styles in various washes, fits, etc. I already knew what I wanted coming into the stroe, but she just would not leave me alone. She also knocked on my dressing room door a few times to ask how I was doing.

I personally don't mind American Eagle. Not too many sales people so you can pretty much browse without being harassed. Shopping on 17th is also not too bad.

Funny how you guys talk about your girlfriends buying all your clothe. I usually pick up stuff for my boyfriend when I go shopping, otherwise he would be wearing his Flames jersey everyday (not that there's anything wrong with that :P )

It's a wonderful arrangement. Girls tend to love clothes shopping so it's a win-win situation!

I despise clothes shopping.
Luckily my wife lives for it. Its a great setup. I tell her what I need or would like, and she 'll head out for the afternoon, coming back with a half dozen styles and sizes of whatever I need, and takes back whatever doesnt fit, or I dont like. Helluva deal. She gets to shop, I dont. Perfect.
Another great thing is she refuses to pay for something unless its on sale, or she gets some kind deal. What a gal.
