Default Davy Jones of The Monkees passes away

Not sure if anyone cares but Davy Jones from The Monkees passed away today from a heart attack.

http://music-mix.ew.com/2012/02/29/d...es-dies-at-66/

I remember watching Monkees reruns on MuchMusic back in the day. He was always my favorite.

I heard about this while listening to Jim Rome, apparently GQ tweeted that Jimmy Hendrix opened for the Monkees. Crazy.

Used to watch it after school in elementary all the time.

Chekhov and his mop-hair on Star Trek was casted for the show because they wanted to capitalize on the Monkees craze at the time.

I'm devastated. I love the Monkees, big fan of the show/music. Peter was my favourite, but you had to like Davy. Rough news.

Hendrix did open for the Monkees once apparently, he was booed off the stage by all the ladies wanting a piece of Davy. They would try and drown out his playing with chants about Davy. Apparently he only played a handful of shows before flipping off the crowd, leaving the stage and quitting. I read that in Mickey's book.

Here's to the guy who gave Axl Rose his dance moves. A fun band in its day, and sometimes we forget that music is sometimes supposed to be entertaining.

The Monkees were surprisingly not bad and even entertaining for a boy band put together by marketing. This was at a time when marketing, advertising, and dictated fashions were an anathema to that generation. RIP Davy Jones.

Lol someone died... "good"

Meh, who cares if people are sad. I felt something when Johnny Cash died, his music genuinely affected me. Maybe some people have fond memories of watching the Monkees growing up, what's it to you

I mean, good!!!

Yuuup. I'm glad he's dead. I have fond memories too. Fond memories of the day I found out some random person I've never heard of was dead. It makes me smile inside, like Honey Nut Cheerios.
