Default Might as well leap. LEAP! Go ahead and leap.

If the concept of the Leap Year was never created in the Julian/Gregorian calendar, we'd be about 500 days ahead of where we are now. Today would be July 13th, 2013. We'd have the 1-21 Memorial in NYC. More tragically, I would have been born in the 80s.

We shouldnt have to work this day. Do we get an extra day off this year? This sucks. The last thing the year needs is more work days.

Almost every four years I hear this complaint and it gets worse every year.

You were working 5 hours, 49 minutes, 12 seconds less annually for the last several years - we've noted this on our timesheets and are asking you to now make the difference up.

Sincerely,
Your Solar Year overlords.

Its not like I'm getting paid for the additional day, I'm getting totally boned financially, I still have to pay for water and power and gas etc today, yet really I dont' receive compensation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leap_Day_%2830_Rock%29

In the show’s just-alternative universe, Leap Day is an actual holiday—complete with candy for the kids, Leap Day William emerging from the Marianas Trench and a cheesy Jim Carrey / Andie McDowell holiday movie

Dear Solar Year Overlords;

I'd like to request . . . no demand a change to the current rules in place for the once every 4 years leap day. I demand no humbly request that you contact the world governments and enact a global leap year law that states that any crime no matter how Henious should be exempt from prosecution.

As an aside, I shakily hope that you can also suspend the Karma rules for the day.

Sincerely

Vancouver dog f$$$$$

Touche. I forgot to include the word leap. It should read 'it gets worse every leap year'.

The point still stands. In a non-leap year do you get the same salary in February as you do in March? If you rent, does the landlord ask for more rent during a leap year?

Nope, wasn't me. Cam Ward also turned 7 today, Simon Gagne is 8. Henri Richard is 19. Kari Eloranta was also born on leap year, turned 14 today.

I'll be starting my tour for free stuff around the city at noon. The Westin has a free lunch and cake. The Maid has some free shots for me as well. It's going to be a messy afternoon/evening

I also saw WestJet had one way flights anywhere in Canada for $16 today.

The Julian Calendar didn't introduce the concept of the leap year, it simply formalized it. If Julius Ceasar hadn't inflicted his calendar system on us, we could be happily right in the middle of Mercedonius right now, which was an entire leap month. All our regular years would be 355 days long, but then once every three years or so, we'd get a year with Mercedonius, and the year would be about 375 days long!
As far as what year we'd be in, that's really hard to say, because it was really up to the discretion of the Pontifex Maximus whether any given year had a leap year. Typically, he'd use it to make the years when his political rivals were in power shorter, while making the years when his political allies were in power longer. It was a really screwed up system, because they had neither a true solar calendar or a true lunar calendar.
I sort of wish we still had that system, just for how much it would piss off all the computer programmers I know.

I for one would welcome our Mercedonius overlords with open arms.

Bring on Mercedonius. 'Bout time we had a month with a cool name.

"February!" Bah! Who needs that crap?

I am thankful for the extra day, because it gave me an extra day to put finishing touches on my architectural portfolio for a school application.

WestJet had their first flight on February 29, 1996, so 16 or 4 years ago, depending on how you count.

Thanks to the introduction of the Gregorian Calendar, the day after Thursday, October 4, 1582, was Friday, October 15, 1582.
