Ya I guess it's my fault for wanting proper service now a days.
Yes whats the world coming to when a some poor schmoe getting 8.80 an hour can't get you your sub right in a minute or so, does he have no pride in his crappy ass job with its lousy pay?

Also, their mustard and mayo control can sometimes be unbelievable, like comon', who puts 4 thick passes of each on a sub?
I usually say "a little bit of mayo" then I have to stop them as they are going for the second thick pass. Then you get the eye roll because they think you've somehow asked for something out of the ordinary.

There is a difference in not having the skills to properly do your job and just not giving a crap. If your crappy ass job doesn't pay enough then find another job, in the meantime you should do your job to the best of your ability. I used to wash dishes for $4/hour and those dishes were clean.

You people need to stop going to crappy Subway, and start getting your subs at the Safeway Signature Cafe.
Seriously, I have not been to a Subway in 2 years, you cannot even remotely compare the 2. There is not turning back once the switch is made, it is such a difference. A foot long sub from Safeway, is the equivalent on 2 Subway foot longs for fill factor, and the cheese/meats, toppings, and amounts of them are so far beyond the crap you get at Subway it is laughable.
They don't fool you with handfuls of shredded, preservative laced lettuce which was the main reason I stopped going to Subway. Apparently light lettuce at Subway means '2 giant handfuls' and you can taste the nasty chemicals in it. They give you a dirty look, because that cheap lettuce, is what fools you into thinking you are getting a substantial sandwich, and lets them cut down on the more expensive toppings.
At Safeway, they put those big long green leafs on, the way a sandwich is meant to be, and they will put as many as you like, or none at all. Safeway subs are the only time, I have seen a sandwich consistently look BETTER than the picture on the menu board. Do yourself a favour, and try it once, you will not regret it. Try the 'Plymouth rock' sub. It is sub sex.

This is so true, I used to work about 3 blocks from the safeway on 12th and those sandwiches are filling as hell. Even just the 'regular' size is enough on it's own some days. No drink/chips/fruit, just the sandwich and I'd be stuffed.

I know Hilch is taking up the "customer service" side of the argument on this one, but the incident to me wasn't really a big deal. Thread was more about the discussion of how gross egg salad is.
This particular subway is always a nut house and I have much sympathy for the employees. It might drive some posters nuts to say this, but Im sure I wont even mention it next time I go there.... meh...

Ya, the safeway subs are good- the 6" at safeway is usually good enough.
I have gotten bad or rank toppings at both safeway and subway. I once got bad mayo or meat (wasnt sure which) at a subway east of the 'foot- I was given a new sub easily enough when I complained, but they didnt seem to make any effort to check the potentially bad item. IIrc, the manager was very apologetic and nice about it, but seemed to be suggesting that it was probably just my individual serving of mayo or meat that was bad, and the couter stock didn't need to be checked (him explaining it with his east indian accent was kinda awesome and funny)

Since this is basically turning into a Subway Transgressions... thread, I thought I'd share my pain.
Anyone ever get an artist that goes crazy with lettuce? I don't mind some lettuce but when they empty the entire box onto my sub then slam the top half on before any can fall out it ruins the sandwich.
Also, their mustard and mayo control can sometimes be unbelievable, like comon', who puts 4 thick passes of each on a sub?
Also the I second whoever said the toasters should go to Quiznos. The toaster destroys the line especially at lunch hour and makes for awkward moments, and was probably the cause of the OP getting a nasty egg salad sandwich.

I get sandwiches from Safeway and I still get subs from Subway. If you eat the full size Safeway sandwich there's a 47% chance you will die from an exploding stomach.
A sandwich becomes substandard to me at the point where eating the individual ingredients is better than eating the mess of all of them combined where the flavors all blur into a sloppy pile which is something I find in a lot of subs.
.............I think the best part is not needing to explain to whatever idiot behind the counter what you want, since you can enter it into the computer yourself.
are you saying that someone has invented a sandwhich making compueter/robot/cyborg? if this is true, i need to get one of these for my home......
