Hamptons is in good shape today after some pretty rough ice yesterday. Good flood last night I suppose.

Might head out again later, there or elsewhere.

I live in McKenzie Lake, but unfortunately, just a bit too far north of the boundary to be eligible for a pass to use the hockey rinks. I'm 25 and just started playing goal last year. I'd love to be able to come out try to stop a few shots. If there's anyone in the area who wants to sign me in and shoot on a real (mediocre) goalie, email me at slickfraser1@hotmail.com. Weekday evenings are good.

Another question, do all outdoor community rinks require membership of some sort, or just McKenzie Lake?

I think its only the ones like Mackenzie or Arbour Lake. All the other ones are somewhat public.

By the way, ice was good at Bowness park last night. No fires roaring though, which was kind of disappointing.

My community doesn't have a rink yet so I'm an orphan that plays at a few NW rinks. No one has ever called me on a membership. I know Tuscany has a members only rink, however. And it looks like a nice one.

Since last year Oakridge requires one. Gotta buy a community membership and skate tags for each person

Any updates on condition around town? Any ice left?

I did a big drive tonight trying to find a quick skate... Hamptons, Valley Ridge, Edgemont and Hidden Valley are all a no good (Hidden Valley had a small 1/4 rink going on poor ice). Nothing at all.

Weather should be cooler next week, so one can hope.

I was at Hidden on Thursday and it was still good, but guess the spring weather was too much.

Bowness is getting soft in spots as of last night . Olympic Plaza is still good as of today.

went for a skate at Copperfield this afternoon, the only thing worse than the ice was me
The corners were soft, a bit too soft for my 250lb frame....

Hopefully they give it a flood over the weekend when we get some more cool temps.

Wildwood is one of the best IMO...
I dont care how good the ice is at springbank, the kids who all play on the same team and set up a 5 minute powerplay are not worth it.

Lake Chaparral had two decent games going on the weekend and is surprisingly not closed despite the fire department warnings to stay off ponds/lakes/rivers etc.

Millrise and Shawnessy are both in decent shape except for the corners where the ice is starting to melt. Better ice later and Millrise lights are on until 10pm.

A bit of a drive but Black Diamond has a great setup. Artificial ice outdoors....hard to beat...On the right afternoon it is worth the drive. $1,000,000 shinny facility!

In the city we should be able to get in 3-4 more weeks before things turn to slush. I am curious how long they keep the ice in at Black Diamond as they should be able to easily go into April with the artificial ice? Any insiders?

any good ice around the Central east area?

Usually go to forest heights and their ice is ok but the havent cleared the rink since the snow started falling a few days ago. And it's way too much to do on my own.

Hows Inglewood? and when is a good time to go there on a Sunday?

Best ice of the year tonight IMO and we had the place to ourselves. Too bad it is a school night or we would have been there a couple more hours. Had to shovel the thin layer of snow every 20 minutes or so but well worth it!

We were over at Millrise tonight. When we were leaving a couple of guys were just going on the ice with snow blowers. Open until 10pm with lights!

i was up at tuscany last thursday night. very disappointed. for a facility that has it's own zamboni, the ice was not good and they didn't even have the entire surface cleared of snow. piles of snow at one end. lazy ass tuscany.

Complain to the GM. His email address is right on the website (tuscany-connect.com) He'll ignore you or send you some crappy response but it's worth a try.

I'm on record saying they have the most incompetent and borderline corrupt management and BoD in history though, so I could be biased.

If you are a resident and really want to do something show up to the AGM in November or get on the board. I think they're actually under represented because of the lack of people.

On the other hand, they only clear the snow once a day. Other than that, it is up to the residents. They even have shovels. You can't run a zamboni on an ice surface that is covered with snowfall, it effs up the machine. Obviously I'm talking more than natural snow from using the ice. The zamboni is not meant to clear snow. They have snow removal machines (same ones they use to clear the sidewalks) but like I said, they usually only do that in the morning.

If it was clear outside it should have been flooded at 7pm. If it wasn't, complain. They are supposed to flood 2 or 3 times a day. Before opening, 2pm and 7pm IIRC.

i'm not a tuscany resident and don't care enough to complain on behalf of residents. i just won't go back there.
