Default Bodog.com shut down by the FBI

Bodog is the latest victim of the wave of website shutdowns, first Pokerstars and Fulltilt then Megupload, now this. Where do all the gamblers and downloaders go now, oh the humanity!

I guess Fulltilt and Pokerstars are back now.

The United States Government Angencies are just mad that gamblers rarely report winnings and they can't get their 50% cut.

Hmmm. Does anyone know of a good alternative for online sports betting?

http://bodog.net/ <-- Same site?

ICE doesn't have authority to shut down the website proper unless the servers are based in the US. It can only block tld's that are controlled by American registrars, such as .com.

I just heard a Bodog ad on the radio this morning, guess that was wasted money.

Are they completely down again or are they still running games? They were in talks of selling off half their company to some investors in Europe a few months ago, but I'm not sure if that went through or not. I, personally, hope they shut down for good as they were just a giant ponzi scheme. At least Pokerstars has the funds to pay out all their players at any given time.

The reasons they give are pretty vague. Illegal gambling site? Right.

I don't think Full Tilt has ever been back up since the FBI seizure. They may come back one day but I'm sure they would have to make some sort of payout deal to the players since there is no way they can pay 100% back. Not sure what happened with that buyout offer.

Pokerstars was back up and running (outside of the U.S.) pretty much right away.

The .net site is not for actual gambling, so it can be advertised more freely. It can have free contests with cash prizes and the like though. I remember in my online poker days every site would have a .net version where you could play for free.

Pinnaclesports.com is my favorite. They usually have the best odds for players.

I dont have a Bodog account, but I thought this seizure means that only US residents are prohibited from playing.

Ok I have some money in a bodog account. I just went to bodog.com and was going to bet on some games today. So what does this mean? Will I get my money back eventually?

My wife won't be happy if i don't she never knew I had an account on there until the other day.

Edit: Nevermind, we're all good. I was going to bodog.com and not bodog.ca

I've been using Bet365.com for a couple years...never had any problems betting or collecting money etc.. However, not all credit cards work...my CIBC ones does but apparently Royal Bank blocks transactions from this site...CC is the easiest way to get money in and out but if you have any large winnings then CC doesn't really make much sense (unless you are carrying a large CC balance i suppose...) and you're probably better off with a bank wire or money order. I always get scared hearing of these sites going under...I had a great football betting season and I have been working at pulling my winnings out on my CC a couple grand at a time but it would really suck if one day they just went under.

Anyway...lots of options still out there...

Bet365 also has a really good mobile betting site (in-game as well) for betting on the go (which I do a lot...sadly)

Also has what is probably the easiest and safest way to withdrawl/deposit in instadebit

it's widely known as the best site on the web, most Americans still remember the day it got taken away

if you like more European sports Betfair is the best for that
