Nobody glamorizes war and desensitizes its youth quite like the Americans do.

Who cares, they try to kill us.

I went to the movie, with a veteran and a cop. I rarely go to movies. This was pretty good, I thought the acting was kinda odd but they told me after it was actual soldiers in the movie.

As a pretty good COD player, I thought the inside look at the seals was very interesting.

I really hope you didn't say anything like that to the veteran...

So for those who seen the movie, how many different nationalities were there trying to kill freedom loving Americans in it?

I have a military buddy who taught extreme mountain climbing and survival to selected seals/special forces in the 90's. I asked him "what was that like?"

He laughed and said...think the Jessie Ventura character in predator X two, most of them are totally f'.kin nuts!.

And yes, these USA guys trained in Canada, up near Jasper to be specific.

The SEALS and a lot of the other special forces operators like JTF2 have the same kind of arrogance as fighter pilots. They know that they are in the top 10 percentile in the world at what they do, the seals maybe a bit higher.

And if you can make it through the training that they go through, any fear that you have of anything is pretty much gone.

I did, and if you watch the movie, you will see how they include a lot of things that people like me can recognize. I don't see how that is an insult. In fact, these are close friends of mine, so it wasn't like it was random people. I certainly do not equate video games with real soldiers, so get over that.

More like top .0001 percentile.

Joe Rogan told a story (that I can't completely remember but it makes the point) that a bunch of UFC fighters were training and some seals joined them. they were running a hill. the UFC guys were doing it 7-8 times and puking. the Seals were still going strong at like 30 times.

They are in a whole different category.

i totally know what you are talking about. Just cause it is a game doesn't mean you can't learn real tactics and apply them. i am pretty sure you weren't saying that real Seals are the same a Modern Warfare

There's actually a fairly large special forces community world wide, and the seals are a small component of that. But you also have the Russian Special forces groups, the Israeli who are extremely good, the SAS, the other components of the U.S. special forces community, including groups that are rumored to exist but have never been confirmed.

Canada's JTF2 was expanded, but are looked upon favorably.

A quarter of North Korea's military strength is probably considered to be special forces because the Kim's were in love with them so they get specialized training.

I still don't know if I would call the SEALS the best of the best, however it doesn't hurt that they've basically been involved in continuous Combat operations for over a decade.

I was talking a percentile of the general population. It would be neat to know about the forces that exist that no one knows about.

JTF2 was disbanded wasn't it? I assume that is what you meant but the coffee hadn't kicked in yet.

I like to think that on the first day on the job the new president is sat down and they say Okay, you know about the seals. That's what we tell the people about. Now these guys over here that no one knows about...
