Nehkara... one thing I kept in mind, is the idea of keeping 2 players together and rotating the 3rd to keep things fresh.
Tanguay - xxx - Iginla (proven chemistry between the 2, Tanguay was resigned for Iginla... I fit Backlund in there because this year, they really seemed to groom him for top quality minutes..... you got to think there was a plan in place for the future for that)
Sven - xxx - Glencroxx (mentor for Sven, probably roommate too with Bork gonzo, start Olli as the center as he has proven chemistry with Glencross for 2 years. I like the idea of pairing 2 vets with a rookie to keep things stable...)
Cammalleri - xxx - Moss (theoretical mix, a shooter and a crease crasher.... threw in the waterbug in at C)
Jackman - xxx - TKO (the 4th line tandom, with Jones as the remaining player)
Cycle the forwards..... Olli might get cycled to Tanguay-Olli-Iginla, maybe Jones gets cycled to the 2nd line with Sven-Jones-Glencross for some extra toughness... keeps some sense of chemistry together....
Of coarse, all of this assumes no injures.

You are right
Bartschi - Jokinen - Glencross
Cammalleri - Horak - Moss
Tanguay - Backlund - Iginla
Jackman - Jones - TKO
Now he's on the 2nd line. Better?

Now Cammalleri is on the second line, so here's a lineup we can all agree to.
Jackman - Jones - TKO
Cammalleri - Horak - Moss
Bartschi - Jokinen - Glencross
Tanguay - Backlund - Iginla

I don;'t see why it's so hard for people to play Cammy as a center seeing how he has played there as of late. The only problem is if Calgary aquires (however unlikely it may seem) Carter.

Here we go again.
Just be patient and you'll see which line he plays in, if he plays, who knows, a career ending injury may occur! (uh-oh, now I jinxed it, right?). Anyhow, I'd like to get some intel on his points and how he plays each game, AT THE MOMENT, not what's going to happen next or 2 years from now.
Thanks.

The numbers more or less speak for themselves. He has 80 points in 40 games, 24 goals and 56 assists. He has a skilled, albeit fairly one dimensional, line mate in Ty Rattie. Sven makes some unbelievable passes to set Rattie up, and he Rattie often delivers. He can almost singlehandedly dominate the opposition in the offensive zone, he isn't afraid to use all 185 pounds of himself to knock guys off the puck, or down in general and plays a defensively sound game.
Throughout January he had only 6 points. His season by then had been derailed by the WJC and a concussion. His February so far has been phenominal and still has 4 games to go.
He is a great overall player and is getting better with every game.

Good quotes from flamesnation.ca on February 13th:
Quote:
[Baertschi's] split of even strength and powerplay scoring is strong (40/28 or 59% at ES) so fortunately we're not talking about a Rob Schremp situation. Baertschi also accounts for more than 44% of Portland's scoring when he's in the line-up, so it's safe to say he is a prime driver of results for the Winterhawks. For context, Greg Nemsiz never even crested 30% for the Spitfires in four seasons.
|
Quote:
The most compelling comparable for Flames fans is probably Claude Giroux. A 22nd overall pick by the Flyers, Giroux is a similar build to Baertschi (5'11" 175lbs when he was drafted) and also plays the wing. He scored at almost the exactly same rate as Baertschi in his 19-20 y/o season in the QMJHL and has since developed into a very nice hockey player.

Not that it matters all that much but Sven is also featured on the Winterhawks intro page at the moment:
http://www.winterhawks.com/
He is their best player ATM and I would say he is easily in the top 3 players of the WHL right now, can't wait to see him get an opportunity with the big club!

He drew comparisons to NY Islanders 2010 #5 pick Nino Niederreiter shortly after he was drafted, not because they are all that much a like as players, but because of their common Swiss descent and the fact that they both played Juniour for the Winterhawks. In Niederreiter's draft year he produced 60 points in 65 games, and followed it up with 70 in 65 in his last season. For the same team, and in the absence of Neiderreiter and Johannson, Baertschi has scored at an exceptionally improbable 2 point/game clip, and has a fairly even distribution of points at even strength and on the powerplay.

Sven with 2 goals in a 7-2 win for the Winterhawks tonight. Ty Rattie also got his 50th goal and 100th point of the season.
They've been the best team in the WHL in the past couple of weeks and have rocketed up the standings and Sven has been a HUGE part of that. Can't wait to see him play on the Flames!
