Well, it's just a mixed bag for the Stars & Blues this year. Stars win, Blues win, okay the Blues have won more. The Stars remain just three points ahead of the Lightning for last place in the league. Jarkko Ruutu scored another goal for 14 on the year, and Ryan Miller continued his struggles in net. Look for Miller's game to improve dramatically next year. The Stars as a whole will improve dramatically next year as several players will no longer be rookies, and some free agents should be signed.

ROAD WARRIORS - PANTHERS 7 WILD 0
Evgeni Nabakov Shuts the Door on Wild and Former Mates...
It the highly anticipated battle between the Florida Panthers and the Minnesota Wild, the Panthers stepped it up and HAMMERED the Wild 7-0 on Thursday night. The Panthers who have been awsome on the road this year had this game circled on their calender.
Only one week ago, one of the biggest trades in CPHL history went down seeing tons of players switch teams. The Panthers have been struggling finding the right line combinations as they have struggled since the big trade.
"We know we have the right players on this team to win" said GM Penney, "but finding the right pairings has been the toughest part".
The Panthers will look to build on this win when the face the Capitals tomorrow night.
Goalie Statistics
Evgeni Nabokov (PAN), 21 saves out of 21 shots, W, 32-20-3
Jamie Storr (WIL), 12 saves out of 17 shots, L, 8-7-0
Pekka Rinne (WIL), 17 saves out of 19 shots
Power Play Conversions
PANTHERS 1 for 4
WILD 0 for 5
Game Stars
1 - Sergei Gonchar (PAN)
2 - Alexander Korolyuk (PAN)
3 - Evgeni Nabokov (PAN)

HAWKS TANK ANOTHER ONE
In what has become the norm, the Hawks once again took to the ice and just had fun. Forget about playing for glory or points, lets just get out there and bang and laugh. A simple check of water bottles found them all smelling of hops instead of stale water.
This team is for sale. Note I didn't say ON sale, I said for sale.

Leafs win big in Chicago.
The Leafs beat the Hawks 7-3 despite being outshot 34-19. So can't tell if this was a good game by the Leafs or just bad goaltending in Chitown. Either way one thing that's certain is Manny Fernandez has been playing great lately. Tonight he stops 31 of 34... that's pretty good for the CPHL.
Oleg Saprykin had his first, second and third points as a Leaf. Redden, Tyutin, Datsyuk and Malhotra all had multi-point games.
On the trade front, the Leafs dealt away winger Andre Roy this week. He went to Vancouver for a 4th round pick. Claimed on waivers earlier this season... he never really had an impact in Toronto.

DEVILS CROWN KINGS

Felix Potvin fights off the puck to make a save in the Kings OT loss to the Devils
The New Jersey Devils continue to relish the role of spoiler as they won their third straight game against a team fighting to get into the CPHL playoffs. It took a little extra time but the Devils did mangage to get their 5 goals and take home a 5-4 OT descision against the L.A. Kings.
The Devils opened the scoring 6:35 into the first when Darius Kasparitis showed off a rare flash of skill firing a wrist shot over Felix "the old and deteriorated house" cat's glove. After an 8 minute dull stretch the two teams began a barrage of goals as Gaborik, Scott Nichol, and Mike Van Ryn traded goals to make the score 2-2 after one. Thanks to a pair of goals from Michael Ryder the Kings held a 4-3 lead after two as Alexander Svitov replied for the Devils. Dan Fritsche nodded the score at 4 late in the contest as he collected a Niclas Wallin rebound and fired it over Potvins glove.
The overtime was a short affair as the Kings got the puck in the Devils end and forced Mike Dunham to make two big saves off of Jarret Stoll, and Scott Hartnell. But the CPHL's MOST OVER RATED ROOKIE and total bum Dion Phaneuf committed a haneous crime in OT as he missed the net on a point blank shot. With 4 Kings players trapped inside the zone, the puck rolled to centre ice and 3 Devils were away with only John Michael Liles left to defend. Nick Dimitrakos carried the puck into the zone and dropped it to Brett Clark in the high slot. Clark looked like he was going to shoot and kicked up his back leg, but than slid a perfect pass to Nik Sundstrom at the side of the net to tap home the game winner.
Mike Dunham won for the second straight game stopping 34 of 38 shots sent his way. With 15 games left in the season Devils GM Syl remains adament that Dunham will start every remaining game. "We want to win as many games as we can. The more teams we screw out of a playoff spot the better."

JETS ZAP BOLTS

JETS 7 TAMPA 1!
Jets Record:
33-31(2)-6=74 pts—8th in the conference.
Jet Goals:
AFANASENKOV 14 (RECCHI, WALZ) (PP)
CAJANEK 19 (BARNES, RECCHI) (PP)
NOVOSELTSEV 12 (NIKOLISHIN, CARNEY)
BARNES 17 (YOUNG)
CAJANEK 20 (AFANASENKOV, CARNEY)
AFANASENKOV 15 (CAJANEK, BOUCHER)
BARNES 18 (YOUNG)
Positives:
A huge offensive break out for the Jets tonight! It’s been awhile since the Jets have scored with such ease. The power play has 5 goals in the past 2 games. And most importantly the Jets are back in a playoff spot.
Negatives:
No bitching tonight, just wish DiPietro would have had the shutout.
Player of the Game:
Winger Dimitri Afanasenkov is tonight’s POG, Afanasenkov had 2 goals and an assist.
Turning Point:
No real turning point tonight as this game proved to be a major mis-match.
Up Next:
Tomorrow vs. the Devils!
News:
There could be a deal to announce with 24 hours.

Pens top line showed up the rest of the team did not....Backup goalie Jason Labarbera played decent but was left out to dry by his team for most of the night. With production from only 1 line we were lucky to only lose by a goal.

The Canucks GM is exhausted and the webpage isn't going as well as planned. It looks like they will be going back to the old one. It should be updated after tomorrow night's game.
A good win against the always strong Penguins.
In other news, the Canucks made it known that they were searching for some veteran leadership and depth. Mission accomplished? Stay tuned.

Eddie Shines In Debut .
Turning aside 23 of 24 shots to backstop the Sens to a 7-1 victory and halt are recent slide of losses with when Turco sits.
He cam close to pitching a shutout but was foiled 7 minutes into the third when the Nords managed to sneak one by one.
still its a solid debut for Eddie..
Offensivly the Senators were led Nylander and Nedved both has 1 goal and 2 assists. Thorton also got a goal and assists.
Although he did not get a star of the game George Parros played his first game of the season and scored 2 goals. Nice start for the tough guy.
Next up a key matchup vs the Rangers

Sabres back on winning ways
Win key conference matchup
Sabres 4 Canes 3
This was a big one. After rattling off 7 straight Ws the Sabres fell Wednesday to the Quackers. It was important not to lose a 2nd one as the Sabres had a HUGE game Thursday against conference rival Carolina. They did not disappoint, playing full value for a 4-3 win.
The duo of Vaclav Prospal and Brian Smolinski continue to be white hot, Prospal picked up 3 more points. Prospal, Smolinski and Brian Rolston have found some nice chemistry as a bonafide top line. The Sabres continue to get enough secondary scoring from the likes of Fedotenko, Lang, Morrow, Lombardi, Miller and Leclerc to make this team realize they finally have 3 lines that can get the job done, and the wins are coming. The blueline continues to be a team weakness, but the group has been holding the fort in the absence of Dmitri Kalinin.
Sabres play again Friday against the always tough Thrashers. Last time out the Thrash embarassed the Sabres 6-0.
