After coming home last night absolutely loaded I fell onto my couch and flipped on my T.V. to see that Star Trek Nemisis was on. My drunken brain said, watch it dude, it can't be as bad as you remembered, and you and I are drunk so that could make it hilarious.
Nope . . . still terrible.
Looking forward to the reunion so I can ask why they made such a fabulous tv series and such horrible movies.

Or in Blaster86 talk... Picard hit Borg's with a tree = your argument is invalid.
It kind of follows the ST trend of even-numbered sequels being the best. Though, the last TOS-based movies were so-so.. and I didn't mind The Search for Spock too much.
Or maybe more specifically, only 2,3,4, and First Contact are the only worthy ST movies to be made.
Just so everyone is aware the only thing that is sold out is a special event that will last a couple of hours and will feature the entire cast.
There will be separate panels for the cast as follows
Patrick Stewart
Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis
Gates McFadden and Denise Crosby
Wil Wheaton
LeVar Burton and Brent Spiner
Personally I think it is a bit of a rip off to charge people $125 for something they'll already get as part of their expo pass, just split up instead of all at once. Then to charge them another $50 or so to get pics and autographs (per cast member I think). From the sounds of it they may make a group photo option but that'll be rather expensive as well I would think.
Obviously the demand is there so maybe some people see a lot of value in it, putting me in the minority.
On the comic side there is Stan Lee which blows my mind. And other than that the line up is ok. Peter David, George Perez, Mark Texeira.
Max Brooks, the author of WWZ will be there too. And of course Adam West and Hayden Penetierre.

Why though? You can see every single person who will be there, at their own panels, which will give each person even more individual time to speak and be interviewed. All that for half the price or more.
I fail to see an advantage of having the whole group together.

Panels are typically boring. It's the stars talking about things off on different tangents, it's fans asking nerdy/embarrassing questions ("can you say that line from that movie that you said once?"), etc.
When you get the group together, they have more of a conversation with each other and it's funny, spontaneous, reveals things people never knew etc. I sort of explained it earlier in this thread talking to MMF.
That said, I didn't buy any tickets so I guess I won't be seeing anything except on youtube. My 10-year old self is crying somewhere but I'm like "meh" surprisingly. I'm actually surprised at the briskness of sales. Perhaps they should consider moving the venue to the Saddledome.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of the fan questions but I do enjoy a lot of the stories and such that they tell.
I'm not sure if I follow your reasoning that on the difference. Both will likely have nerdy questions and tangents.
Other than seeing them talk to each other, which will still happen at the panels with more than one person, I just don't see much of a difference.
Plus I'd love to hear Stewart talk about other stuff that Star Trek. Am Dad, Xmen etc.
Sorry, I just meant to express that I think the main event is probably more worthy of going to than the individual panels. It's like going to see the concert and then the individual band members separately.

But that's not a fair analogy. That only works if the actors were performing, which they aren't.
Nevertheless, you're entitled to your opinion. I just don't see the value in the group thing for the price.

Every year I see the lineups of people paying $30-$60 (above the price of admission) for brief "interactions" with the stars and I give my head a bit of a shake. But as you said, there is a demand for it, so however people spend their time & money is up to them.
But I do enjoy the panels, it's nice to see the stars relaxed and get some off the cuff remarks. Hearing Jonathan Frakes refer to "Deep Throat Nine" was funny as hell. At the very least it's an entertaining experience.

Well considering the Corral can hold 7000-8000 people and there are going to be 40,000+ at the show this year. Good luck lining up for those free individual panels.
Still not sure what the hype about TNG is. I could never watch that show because of it's poor production values. It looked like it was a Canadian filmed show like Night Heat or the Beachcombers. hehehehe

I went last year and got into every panel I wanted no problem, including the Shatner one. I don't doubt it might be busier for guys like Stewart but there were nothing close to line ups last year.
I showed up in the middle of the panel for Summer Glau and the place was half empty.
The only long line ups last year were for pictures and autographs. And for free stuff at the DC booth. People are so cheap. They were giving away buttons for crap sakes. (I still lined up)
