Buttle pulled the long program of his life out of thin air there. Good for him.

I was just hoping for the Japanese guy to fall. That's so bad. But I'm sooooo happy for Jeff! That's just awesome.

Pretty surprised, wasn't he in 6th or 7th place? That's fantastic that he managed to get it together for the bronze!!! Go Canada! Where did Emanuel place?

Sandhu was 13th and Sawyer was 12th, I believe.

I haven't watched Sandhu skate a lot, but was quite surprised to hear the commentators say that the Russians were most afraid of what Sandhu could do if he skated to his potential.

Admittedly, I don't know all that much about figure skating and I have only seen him skate a couple times, but I was impressed. When he is on, he's definitely one to be afraid of... he's just really inconsistent.

Great that he won a medal, though the new scoring system is so different... seems like how many jumps you attempt (to a maximum of eight) is more important than how many you land. None of the 2nd through 6th place guys were really that impressive, and even with Buttle it didn't seem to matter much that he fell on one jump and put his hand down on the other. I guess it encourages them to go for the maximum difficulty of jumps, though it's underwhelming to see so many of them fall.

I heard Buttle fell, and yet he still won a medal! Glad to see they cleaned-up the judging.
How do you fall, and win a medal?

Thank you!! That's what I was asking after the Chinese girl fell and still won a silver medal in the pairs!

sounded from one of the stories I read that the entire field, including the guy who won gold, were unimpressive to say the least. The least mistakes won, not the best program. And I guess you have to balance that somehow.

When my wife was watching the pairs they discussed the new scoring system. They said something like they are scored on what they complete (so falling may not effect your score as much)

Good Day: Yes
Could have been better: Yes. D.Q. in snowboarding by a medal hopeful and at least one of the medals could have been gold today.
Canada not on pace for 20 medals any more: If all goes wellHockey 2, Curling 2, Bobsledding 2, skeleton 1. = 8+2+2+2+1=15
