8 character vanity plates?

When Alberta had only the 6 character "ABC-123" license plates, you were allowed to have up to 7 characters on a vanity plate. Now that we are slowly integrating 7 character "ABC-1234", I am wondering if and when they will allow 8 character vanity plates like they do in some other provinces, but cannot find any answers by asking at a registry.

Anyone know if it's an option that may come?

What I'm saying is they likely won't offer them since they don't have 8 character regular plates like California.

6 character standard plates allow for 7 character vanity plates, the OP is asking whether they will allow the same to be available with 7 character standard plates to allow 8 character vanity plates. There is no need for an 8 character standard plate to allow for an 8 character vanity plate, capisce?

The answer in the foreseeable future is no.

And to clarify, I did indeed mean 8 character vanity plates.
In Ontario, they have the 7 character standard plates, and allow 8 character vanity plates.
Just wondering if it'll ever show up here.
I know there are probably some negatives that I can't think of right now, but one sure pro of having that many more options, like the mentions GOJETSGO, or GOFLAMES, OILRSSUK, HABSSUCK etc etc, is that it would surely generate quite a bit more revenue.

California, and all of US has the standard 7 character. Although California has cute symbols like star, hand, heart in addition to A-Z, 1-9 (0 and O are the same). Not sure about other states.

Ontario is the only province/state that has an 8 character limit...not to be confused with Ontario, California I am pretty sure that California has way more cars than Ontario. I would not be surprised if California has more cars than half of Canada.

I was curious so I did some rudimentary maths...

Canada has 620 cars / 1000 people and California has 840 cars / 1000 people.

Canada has approx. 21000000 cars and California has approx. 31500000.
