right, what's all this about then?

saw it yesterday on their website as I was doing a chat with their TS. Then I saw a commercial during SB I think for it.

Is it much different than what they have, just better. The one thing I saw was 1080p but you need the gateway to get that.

It will be the brand for all things Shaw to the next level. Public space WiFi, 1080p VOD, enhanced internet speeds...

Whoa they lit up a bunch of wi-fi spots today, according to the new map.

Maybe Shaw should worry about getting the services they currently offer working properly in all areas before launching new ones.

I can't wait until this becomes ubiquitous, and I can create a hotspot called ShawSecure, which I'll use to harvest email and facebook passwords.

It's such a fantastically insecure system the way it works right now.

So.. What is EXO? If I have Gateway do I get it automatically? Better quality? I don't get it.

Aggressive node splitting, hey? Guess I'll call tomorrow to see if Shaw can actually deliver BB 100 a year after they started promoting it.

Had my first experience with the public wifi the other day while eating lunch in Brentwood. 14 mbps down, 4 mbps up. Hot damn, well done Shaw!

Just upgraded to BB100 this morning - looks like the 5 month wait has produced results.

I guess if I do this, my current HDPVR and my current internet modems, the ones that I paid for instead of renting are obsolete?

They will do trade in on some stuff I think. They give you the modem, I have not purchased or paid rent on a modem in a few years.

I wouldn't consider upgrading to the Gateway for TV until some info comes out on which channels are broadcast in 1080p. 1080p VOD isn't enough of a selling feature IMO.

Dam....that's a healthy download speed. I realize they recently increased the upload speed but I do wish it was a tad higher. I know...we are never happy. Just handy for uploading stuff to the home server.

So, i've been getting calls from Shaw for the past 2 weeks that I have been ignoring. I only have internet through Shaw which I pay $52/month for because I don't bundle any services. I picked up the phone today and the CRS says "I'm going to give you faster internet and our new TV for $13 less per month." I did not believe her (because this is Shaw afterall), but she insisted that I could cancel after 6 months (which I will) and I get to keep the faster internet speed and my bill will be $42 instead of $52. So I signed up for this thing, which I didn't really want to do because I don't want TV in my house, but if it's going to reduce my bill to $39 for 6 months and then $42 thereafter, then I guess it's worth it.

I'm still really skeptical that Shaw would give me stuff for free and reduce my bill, and I think I was pissing her off because I was completley skeptical on the phone and it sounded like she just wanted me to believe her. So I guess we'll see how this works out.

A year and a half ago, we saw a promo somewhere for Shaw if switched phone lines. Did that, (we already had internet and digital cable) and through the call, it cut our bill by 70$ a month for a year, along with a free PVR rental for the year.
At the time, the guy gave us his name and employee number to make sure it got changed on the next bill. He also said to call in in the future after 6 months of paying full pop to get the next promo.

So, did a few weeks ago after paying full pop for 6 months. We didn't get any promo though, just got the free PVR rental extended 3 years. But, with the changes in the channels and internet speeds, prices have changed, but we're getting Broadband 50MBPS (upgrade from Extreme, which was 20MBPS) and all the channels we had before (minus 1 or 2 like HD Net Much Music etc) for $30 less than what the full pop was a month ago.

Point is, its worth your time to call into Shaw every 6 months or a year, even if your needs aren't changing, as prices drop or services increase without costing anything more. The money they save you isn't BS, its there to be had, but they're not going to contact you usually, especially if you have all their services already.

I've been bugging my parents to call in...they are getting well overcharged for what they have, along with no PVR or any HD channels. They are getting calls (and I suppose so is the above poster) because they don't have the home phone with Shaw, but do have the other 2 services, however they haven't inquired deep enough about what they can get for less cable and internet wise than what they're paying now, and I can't call in on their behalf.

Does anyone else here have BB50 or BB100? If so, can you tell me your average upload speeds? I got 3 and 5 respectively, but the website promotes 5 and 10 respectively. Is anyone getting an upload of 5 on BB50 or 10 on BB100?
