Default Requesting acoustic songs

Hey all, I'm trying to put together an acoustic (guitar) cd. Just trying to get some more song suggestions. I'm looking for more upbeat songs (ie. no elliot smith depress-o-thons).

Here's the type of stuff I have already:

The Good Life - Album of the year
Ted Leo - Since U been gone (Kelly clarkson cover)
Sublime - Rivers of Babylon
The Weakerthans - One great city!
Dashboard Confessional - Jamie (Weezer cover)

Stuff like that would be great but I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance.

So I guess Nick Drake is out of the question? Though you could give Pink Moon a listen.

What about Jack Johnson? He has some good stuff. His one single Sitting Waiting (can't remember the rest of the title) is pretty upbeat musically. Ben Harper has some good acoustic tracks. Can't go wrong with any of Clapton unplugged. Or Nirvana unplugged.

Stay away from Alanis Morrisette's acoustic album.

Check out some of Iron & Wine's stuff. It's mellow, but not depressing. In The Riens is a great EP with a bit of a country twang to it.

The Unplugged version of R.E.M's Electrolite is great, if you don't mind a bit of acoustic banjo.

Fantastic song.

It features Calexico on it, who are quite talented musically...Kind of spaghetti western/mexican thing going on.

That is one of the better songs I have heard the last couple of years.

Don't know if you have heard of or like Elliot Smith, but "Twighlight" is a very good track. Simple but he pulls it off quite well, IMO.

No depressing stuff, but you put on Dashboard Confessional? I don't get it

I would recommend The New Amsterdams, but they may fall into the depressing catagory. Also anything by Hayden, and Swing Life Away by Rise Against.

I'd suggest stuff off of Pearl Jam's Live at Benaroya Hall Double CD, specifically Ofthegirl and their cover of I Believe in Miracles.

Off the top of my head:

Fleetwood Mac - Never Going Back Again
Bob Marley - Redemption Song
Sugar - If I Can't Change Your Mind
Los Lobos - the coda at the end of La Bamba is awesome
XTC - Love On A Farmboy's Wages
Talking Heads - Psycho Killer (Live)
Flaming Lips - Do You Realize?
Queen - Love Of My Life (Live)
Nirvana - All Apologies
Neil Young - many
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

I like:

Gone 'til November - Wyclef Jean
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away - Eddie Vedder (Cover)

although those may not be upbeat enough for you.

I see you have a Sublime song picked out, but might I suggest Boss DJ.

The all-time greatest acoustic song:

"Angry Anthem" by Forces of Evil.

Download this song, you won't regret it. Although the message is quite "Angry", the song itself is very catchy and upbeat. Make sure you get the acoustic version though.

Don't forget the "Unplugged" albums MTV put out a few years ago. I Have Clapton's and Bryan Adams, and I enjoy them. Othe ones I would try have already been mentioned.
