I have a different receiver, but with no antenna attached I almost get 3 bars. The receiver flickers between 3 bars and 0, and 3 is what is needed to hear a signal.

I have yet to experiment to see if a well placed piece of tin foil would help at all.

Ken, have you noticed anything funny with your Sirius radio this morning?

Last night around 9PM I lost the terrestial signal. It was at full strength all week, then just dropped out to nothing. All I could get last night and this morning was 2 bars of Satellite.

I called Tech Support, they were not aware of any problems but did recall one other call from Calgary about a non existant Terrestial signal. They said that if the repeater is down, they are certainly aware of it and would be working on it.

I noticed the terrestrial signal down last night around 9:45 when coming home from playing hockey. It was working at 7:00.

And it seemed to be down again this morning too.

Ahh, thank God it's not just my radio. Still getting no signal right now. I'm going to wait until the afternoon and call back again.

What league do you play in?

I play for a team in the WRAHL.

It's just a bunch of us playing Hack & Slash. It's good for me because I really can't skate. Nomally it's Friday nights, but last night was our Saddledome time. Worked out good; we got to play an extra 15 minutes.

Something to keep in mind, if you are looking to book the Saddledome, make sure somebody on your team is a season ticket holder. We got $150 off for being STH.

But of course last night I picked the maximum number of underpasses possible on my way home.

Ahh, I play with some guys on Friday's also. The ice time is late though, so I don't make it everytime.

How much does the Saddledome charge for icetime? And how long is a time slot?

I think the Dome prices are ~$600, or ~$430 with the Season Ticket discount. Not too bad, but not something I'd want to do every day. This was my 3rd time playing there, so the novelty has started to wear off. Plus it's pretty warm playing there; keep in mind the Dome is set for a comfortable temperature for the fans.

The ice time is 1:15 slots. The people before us were a no-show so we got some bonus time; plus we didn't have to deal with the infamous lake that forms by the Zamboni entrance.

That would be fun to do at least once, maybe I'll run it by the guys I play with. Just hanging around the Saddledome in the back by the dressing rooms is cool.

Still no Terrestrial signal. I'm calling Sirius again and finding out what the hell is going on.

Yes, from what I've heard the American receivers not only make use of the Canadian Terrestrial repeaters, but they also get the American Only channels via the Canadian repeaters.

Terrestrial signal is back to full strength. Came back around 3PM, came in, dropped out and has now been steady for the last 10 mins.

Goddamn I am hooked on Sirius, I was ****ed that I had to turn on 960 and listen to Doughboy talk about the stupid Olympics.

Not a surprise . . . . satellite radio losing a profound amount of money and a cash crisis looming.

Stern was all over the story this morning, going on about Oprah's XM radio show and the huge amount of money she signed for.

I am suprised, that more people have not signed up. Once you get into satellite, you don't mind paying a monthly fee. Our local AM/FM programming pales in comparison.

I would also be interested to see Sirius' Q1 2006 numbers. I think with Stern now on, the numbers will continue to go up.

They've got a long, long, long way to go . . . . . .

I don't think Stern should throwing stones in a glass house either.

There is a reason why no one uses rabbit ears to pick up the 2 local crap TV stations anymore. The content is garbage. People will pay for what they are interested in.

It will take a while, but satellite radio will take over.

I'm a huge radio guy, I listened to QR77, CBC and the FAN all day, for years. Since buying my Sirius radio my Terrestrial listening hours have dropped to about 15 mins a day, just to check in on some Flames news. That's it.

Now, I'm no Stern expert; I've listened to more hours of Stern in the last 10 days than I did the entire rest of my life; but it seems to me he is the type of guy who has a huge ego, and has the talk to back it up. Explains why some people hate him. But it wouldn't be Stern if he wasn't full of himself.

My friends had asked me about my plans to switch to XM now that Stern was available. My initial reaction was "bah, I won't listen." But now Stern may have changed my mind for me.

My comment about Stern reflected the fact the company he has signed on with isn't doing much better than the one he was mocking . . . . I wasn't commenting on his content.

Amusingly . . . .

http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/f...0ddd0a04b0&p=2

I'm just not a guy who is going to pay for radio content. It'll never happen. I really only listen to radio in my vehicle.

I'm probably not alone.
