I watch it all the time in Ontario and there are no issues.

I find it a little annoying as well, but I'm starting to think the issue might be Shaw. We just got these new gateway, pvr systems and I've noticed it happens pretty much every game. I don't recall having the issue before this new hardware.
As to preferring TSN - you gotta be kidding me! They are so anti-Flames, anti-Calgary it borders on pathetic. I grind my teeth listening to those guys. They have all the love in the world for the consistently bottom feeding oilers, hughson makes me puke with his Canuck love and there's a reason why everyone call it the Toronto Sports Network. Their production may be better, but their hate for the Flames and Calgary makes me long for a Sportsnet telecast.

Yes...Jim Hughson...from TSN...
I think you're confusing TSN with the CBC. And I prefer TSN to Sportsnet...not sure why you think they're anti-Calgary.

This is really embarrassing for Sportsnet. They are apparently trying to compete with TSN but they can't get the flipping audio to sync up with the video and they had this problem for the whole season. You got to be freaking %&#$%& me.

Oops - sorry! I was all over the place in that post (it was too early!) My bad.
And I do find TSN rarely has anything nice to say about the Flames. Maybe it's just my perception, but I find them always slagging Calgary while loving the Leafs (no surprise), the canucks (alright, I hate them, but can't deny they're good), Habs (?) but the Flames are always labelled as what not to do. Listen to them long enough and they'll try to convince you the Oilers are the perfect model to follow for a hockey franchise. Like I said (minus the dumb error on my part), I think TSN's production quality and delivery is far better, I just find they always have something to hate about Calgary.

I love how Roger Millions says that us fans have "Bigger fish to fry". It's his complete inability to understand the fan-base that led to him getting chased off this site in the first place. He things SNW is doing us a giant favor by showing Flames games. Brutal that anyone associated with the network would slough off ruined goals with "no big deal, just be glad we're showing it".
Edit: Roger contacted me in a PM and clarified a couple misconceptions I had and explained some details regarding how advertising decisions are made. I also understand why he doesn't actively post anymore, and I was way out to lunch, and it's a real shame that some people took the internet into real life in an inappropriate manner.

I must be in the minority here but the audio thing really doesn't bother me at all. I don't think I would've even noticed if it wasn't brought up. I think a couple posts back someone calculated that it was something like 1/10th of a second or something like that. Production values may be higher on TSN and CBC, but if you watch SN in HD and have decent surround sound its still good quality. And yes, CBC and TSN sure seem to have a bias towards Calgary that makes they're broadcasting of games über annoying. My main gripe with SN continues to be Kerr. He is improving, I'll give him that, but he is no Loubardias.

No it's not the provider's fault, the same issue is happening on Bell and has been ongoing all season. I at first thought that it was being done on purpose to give an edge to Kerr, so he couldn't be accused of not keeping up with the on ice action but it's about time to clean up this problem, it's bush league.

This thread has been sent to SNET and they are aware of your concerns. We understand and respect your feelings. BTW Hulkrogan I lurk in the weeds now and then. I've spoken to many CPers at games and enjoy it. Perhaps you can introduce yourself sometime and we can chat. Roger

Thanks Roger. You're a class act all the way.
Sportsnet takes a lot of crap, from myself included (although most of my complaints revolve around the studio personalities that I'm subjected to during the intermission), and it is nice to see someone like yourself take the time to respond here.
I really do hope SN takes care of this because it definitely is impacting my enjoyment of the broadcast and this thread is testament that I'm not alone.

They will. I am not a technical guy although I have been in the business 33 years. Sometimes however it is not a simple matter as some suggest. I think the delay is unusual as well and it has something to do with the virtual advertising.
Your allowed to complain, it's your right. I appreciate all critiques especially when individuals are respectful. Hope to see you in person sometime.

Saying that Rogers has technical problems with one of it's products is like saying that water is wet. It just wouldn't be Rogers wireless/cable/sportsnet without embarrassing technical issues they have no inclination to fix.

While I certainly appreciate Roger posting in this thread, and passing it on to those that can do something... how can Sportsnet West not know about the problem?
It's been going on for longer then this season, and has only gotten worse since leading up to the game the other night.

I also suspect it is related to floating ads. Its likely not Shaw because the problem seems to be exclusively linked to Flames broadcasts on Sportsnet and not other programs on Sportsnet or even other channels.
It seems like Sportsnet is giving a big middle finger to fans. Instead of not running the ads until they can get the technical issues ironed out, they have decided its more important to generate revenue by selling ad space. They know fans will continue to watch because there is no alternative if you want to watch a Flames game that they are covering.

it's not likely shaw because I have Telus and the byron "goal" announcement was early there as well.
