I know four people who have battled cancer. My grandmother survived breast cancer, but I lost an aunt, a co-worker and a friend. Just yesterday, a co-worker found out his father-in-law has lung cancer. Unfortunately, I know far too much about the devastating effects of the disease. It is why I donate, and it is why I volunteer my time. It is why a good friend of mine is participating again in this year's Ride to Conquer Cancer.
We're doing it to support our loved ones who are battling the disease now, honour the ones whom it has taken from us too soon, and save the ones who don't need to suffer it in the future. And this Valentines Day, we are showing our loved ones we care. All donations made towards my friend's ride are being matched twice, up to $500 each. And I will personally match any donation made today by a Calgarypuck member, also up to a total of $500. The Alberta Cancer Foundation leverages every dollar it invests to two more from other sources. This means that today, a $10 donation made by you could be worth up to $120 towards fighting this disease.
If you are so inclined, help us out. Help beat this disease. Support my friend's ride, or support anyone you know participating in this event, the Weekend to End Breast Cancer, or any of the ACF's other endeavours.

Added bonus: In a bid to raise awareness and funding, we are part of a group of ten people who will be participating in a skydive event in May. If you've ever wanted to throw me out of an airplane - and chances are several of you have - support my attempts at reckless endangerment!
I know a few others here participated in last year's ride. If you're riding again this year, post your link too. Hopefully the fine people of Calgarypuck will support all riders in this year's event!
