Kaiden was my bro, Ashley was jealous of our bro-lationship and a fugly bitch. Besides, I have Miranda and Liara now with some Tali on the side.
Ashley is a lovely girl once you get to know her. She is the heart of the group.
Actually, one small reason I tend to play women in these games is that the romance stuff can get crazy when you play a man. Feels icky when every skirt comes on to you all the time.
My intent was to romance Kaidan in ME1 so he can get jealous of my ME2 LI (Garrus) in ME3. It didn't work, I was too renegade or something.
Ashley was by far more interesting, even though I disliked her xenophobia - in which case I just told her to shut the hell up. Which she did. Liara bothered me because she came onto Shepard *almost* right away.
My MShep is probably going to go after Ashley and Jack. If I ever get around to creating him. (I need a paragon.)
Looks like it gives away some returning party members.
Bioware said that unless you killed them off, everyone would be back in some capacity or another, whether they could join your crew permanently, just for a mission or 2, or dropped by to say hi is another story.
I guess there was an ending where Sheppard dies at the end of Mass Effect 2 and Joker reports to the Illusive man on the missions success.
At that point, I guess you have to create a whole new Captain.
At least that's the rumor that I'm hearing.
they confirmed that when ME2 was released. if Shepherd dies in ME2, then logically you can't import that save into ME3. you would create a new character like if you had never played the first 2

But technically it would just be a new Shepard right?

Either they have to revive Shepard, or come up with some story line where the new captain is also named Shepard (e.g. a brother / sister looking for revenge / answers). If not, there will be a lot of dialogue to record twice.
Also, EB Games as a "Trade 2 for $50 towards Mass Effect 3" if you trade in games that trade in for over $8. Not a bad deal if you have some oldish games that you don't play any more. You can also go to Best Buy or Futureshop and pre-order it and get $10 cash back (that you get roughly a month after).

it will be like if you created a new shepherd in ME2. you will need to go through an intro and make the important decisions from the first 2 games
the official Mass Effect canon is that Shepherd lives at the end of ME2. think of him/her dying as an alternate ending, to see how things could have turned out. that ending has zero effect on the official ME storyline though
