I really think that Ottawa and Toronto are going to slide right out of the race before the trade deadline.
Toronto's goaltending is starting to slide, and Ottawa looks like they're games taking a hit.

Yeah, but who is going to take their place? The only teams really fighting for 2 spots right now are Ottawa, Toronto, and Washington.
So I think either one of Toronto or ottawa are guaranteed a spot with Washington taking the other.

I wouldn't count out Tampa Bay. They are 7-1-2 in the last 10, and while they are 8 points out of 8th, they have 2 games in hand on Toronto and 4 on Ottawa.
I would hate to be the team in first who is forced to play a streaking Lightning team. That and like Captain, both Toronto and Ottawa missing the playoffs would make my day. If I had to choose between the two obviously Toronto finishing outside the top 8 is the preferable option.

Looks like it's "do or die" time for the Jets. They play nine of their next ten games at home. It's time to capitalize. They need to Win at least 7 of those games to make the playoffs.

If it was up to me, the rankings would be, alphabetically:
1. Calgary
2. Edmonton
3. Montreal

The only team that Montreal is better then is Edmonton.

It was a toss up amongst Montreal, Ottawa and Calgary. It could have went Ottawa, Calgary and then Montreal. At the end I went with goal differential. Giving more credence to the old fashion stats of scoring more goals than letting them in would win more games...

I tend to go by who actually wins the games, not who could've potentially won more games that they lost.
Montreal ranked ahead of Calgary or Ottawa shows ignorance IMO.

Like I had stated earlier, it was a toss up. They are so close in points with Ottawa ahead of the Flames and Montreal behind Calgary by only 5 points. In the end, I went with stats and that is the goal differential. It was in no way a put down of the Flames because of BOA rivalry.

Yeah I remember when the Hartford Whalers wone the Cup after qualifying for the playoffs in the 70's. They didn't have the points, but man their goal differential was . . .
sorry I can't do it, that's the stupidest thing I've ever read.
Calgary is 5 points up on the Habs therefore Calgary better then the Habs the stats don't make up the difference, they would if they were tied or close with games in hand on either side, but they're not. Every team in Canada in pretty much better then the Habs with the exception of the Oilers.
