After years of talks with specialists about the practicalities of a prosthetic limb, the 42-year-old has been chosen for a remarkable bionic leg which will fuse on to living muscle and bone to become a natural extension of her body.
Pretty cool if they can pull this off. The results should be interesting. And it just goes to show that if you wait long enough, all of the far fetched ideas from 70's TV shows will come to pass.

I, for one, welcome our new robotic overlords...

I looked into this in 2002, I was looking at 2+ years recovery so I passed.
In 2007 I had the bone lengthening surgery to allow for a better prosthetic fit.
Had the Ilizarov 'frame' on for 3 months and then another 4 months recovery for the bone to heal/grow.

It hurt like hell

Someday we may grow our own new limbs back.

Quote:
Regrowing amputated limbs, broken backs and even damaged brains could one day be a reality after scientists discovered a gene that is key to the almost magical ability.

Researchers have found that the gene p21 appears to block the healing power still enjoyed by some creatures including amphibians but lost through evolution to all other animals.

By turning off p21, the process can be miraculously switched back on. They turned off the gene in mice which had damaged ears and they regrew them. While they say it is early days, there is nothing theoretically different about applying the same process to humans.

This combined with the pick sock comment, makes me think you are trying to de-throne Fotze.

Great post by the way.

You can grow back anything if you take a hit of stem cells. The liberal media keeps that under wraps though.

The liberal media does? I'm pretty sure it's the religious right that opposes stem cell research.

It's one of the many conflicts I have when I vote. The NDP are economic suicide but endorse social freedoms (although they actually take this too far in some instances), the Liberals are like the NDP but with a reduced socialist agenda, and the Conservatives are great for the economy, but come with the cost of instituting policies that reek of social conservatism, which I am opposed to.

Why can't there be a "Secular Logic and Reason Party"?

You sir get a thanks because your post makes as little sense as mine in the context of the thread.

Well at least you've got some company for "most unrelated post in the thread". Glad I could share the honour with you, with my random tangent.

If that one chick can have two vaginas, I don't see why I can't have two Johnsons.

So if your tailor asks if you dress to the right or the left, you can simply answer "Yes".
