No true Scotsman fallacy. Espresso is simply defined as "a concentrated beverage brewed by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans". What you mean to say is "A Nespresso can't produce GOOD expresso", which now boils down to matter of opinion.
The 'quality' of the end product is all we're concerned with. Coffee is a personal thing. What tastes like garbage to one might taste fantastic to someone else. Just ask anyone who has never drank coffee before versus someone who enjoys a nice strong after-dinner espresso. I could barely drink espresso until I became accustomed to the taste of normal coffee. Now I can appreciate a good espresso (and used to drink it quite regularly - the restaurant I bartended at had an espresso machine).
The machine itself certainly isn't deficient - I mean, the damn thing can generate 19 BAR of pressure, far more than is needed. If it's the actual ground coffee product that you're concerned with, they make
refillable Nespresso pods that you can fill with your own ground beans.
