I'm sure it was. However, putting that sign up to make a "humourous" picture is pretty tasteless. (whoever did it) If the owner of that unfortunate animal came across that scene it would be pretty traumatic, especially seeing as someone is making a joke of it. Of course, a responsible pet owner shouldn't be letting their cat run free anyway.

You're entirely ignoring the possibility thats its a wild street cat.

I would suggest to call the animal hospitals around you prior to calling the pound, they don't charge the person when they pick up their dog like the pound does, which is nice as an owner

Still not funny. Regardless if it was somebody's pet or not it is still in very poor taste.

Yes, because an innocent animal that has been run over is just hilarious. I have 3 cats I adore very much, some of us actually care about other things in life besides trolling a hockey board. Anybody who can look at roadkill and find something funny in it has something seriously wrong in their head.

There's no evidence that it's been run over, or malice of any kind. In fact it kind of looks like a seagull. Would you think it was funny if it said "free seagull?"
Either way, I'm pretty sure nobody here condones killing cats for any reason.

You obviously missed the joke if you think people are laughing at the fact the cat was run over. But you do have 3 cats and you know what they say about people with more than one cat.
Funny how you mentioned a tasteless cat joke, but don't mention the several other hilarious tasteless jokes in the funny picture thread.

You are such a troll Puckluck.
The context is completely different in the Funny Picture Thread, I open it up and am not offended by anything in there, because I'm expecting it.
In a thread about a lost animal, showing a picture of roadkill with a "free cat" sign on it is tasteless and inconsiderate.
Stop defending positions that make no sense, its not a good look.

lol that pic has had 18 people thank it, including the OP (an animal lover). Stop crying like little babies at something that is funny. You don't like it? Move on. Let those with a sense of humour have a chuckle.

The best part is you had "grizz29" (formerly known as Amorak and THE SCUD) thank the "tasteless" joke and then thank two other posts saying it was tasteless and inconsiderate.

So, foursie found a dog and returned it within about 8 minutes. I was half expecting him to just shrug his shoulders and keep it. Thats what old 4x4 would have done.
That said, its a picture, find it funny, or not, either way keep calm and move along.
