i've heard that a mining claim is still an option, with limitations on it of course.

Texas Adverse Possession Story

He has had success, he filed his papers with the court for $16. He can not be physically removed from the property. Of course in 3 years something could happen but he is banking on the banks not wanting to go through an expensive law suit for this civil matter. We will know 2.5 years from now if he gets the house and has perfected his Adverse Possession.

Famous homesteader sitting in a Texas McMansion for only $16 now kicked off the land after eight months.

At the end of the day he probably made some money on his webiste and ebook from the suckers out there and he got to live rent free for a few months.

I would be surprised if the company that took the land back didn't go after him for legal fees.

Although I'm basically just curious, I couldn't find any information about this or any other Alberta crown land for sale. So if you have a "let me google that for you" path, I'd be much obliged.

This is an outline of the process if you identify a nice spot that you would like to own.

Here is a link to the news story on land for sale in the north. I think most of it has been sold now. I would imagine as well that you would have much better luck trying to buy land in the northern half of the province although I have heard of sales in the Nordegg area.
