Default Creepy Stories

Thought it would be neat to create a thread and share some creepy stories. While this one did not happen to me, I found it great read:

Quote:
I used to go exploring lots of abandoned buildings in and around where I live. Underground sewers, old hospitals (ultra creepy), an old tomb (not as creepy as i expected), the forts on the islands in the harbor, and various other weird places.

Yet the creepiest place I visited was the old YMCA building. It had been abandoned for years, and I always thought it would be an awesome spot to play paintball in. So me and a couple friends pried open one of the wooden boards blocking a window and crawled in. There was the usual graffiti, liquor bottles and garbage near the entrance where light still penetrated through. Beyond the darkness we couldn't see much, even in the day, not much light entered the building as all the windows were mostly boarded up.

So we took to the flashlights and started exploring, there was a huge empty swimming pool full of garbage and various furniture, various locker rooms with gym equipment and weights still laying around, posters lined the walls with activities that were going on, and rules, etc.

We were walking back towards the pool area to head downstairs and we thought we heard someone come in through a different entrance, it was kinda startling, and we figured it might have been the police or the building manager so we just stayed still and quiet till we figured it was ok. As we started to head downstairs we notice there was another set of stairs going deeper into the building, a basement level.

Just peering into the stairway you could see nothing, shining the light down we could see a bunch of garbage, old cans and raggedy old clothes. As we got to the bottom of the stairs, there was a mattress, more old cans, liquor bottles, clothes and it stunk of piss and rot. We figured some old hobos were taking refuge up in here, which is not totally uncommon for abandoned buildings. Seeing as how we were in a dark basement, possibly with some crazy hobo, the natural thing to do would be to keep going. None of us would suggest leaving, despite how much my heart was racing at this point.

We found what looked like to be the old furnace room, nothing could have prepared me for what waited for me in there. As I entered the room, it had a miserable foul odor, and as I swept the light across the floor, the ground was littered with dead cats. some were no more than skeletons, and some were in various states of decay. As the others came into the room, we all kinda got silent for a few seconds while we tried to figure out what was going on.

Leaving the room we heard what sounded like someone or something kicking cans upstairs. We were all kinda bugging out now. There was only the one way back upstairs, and after exploring this building for the last couple hours, our light was getting weak. We needed to get back out, and just hope that whatever was making that sound wasn't some deranged hobo trying to kill us.

As we got closer to the stairs we heard a scurrying and what sounded like someone walking towards the stairs. None of us moved. We waited maybe 30 seconds, that felt like hours until we heard them walk away. Running up the stairs and towards the exit I looked back into the darkness and saw someone standing there, very tall, with gangly limbs and a blank face. I just froze... staring into the darkness at this man. He just stood there standing in the corridor, I had to break my gaze and just leave.

I asked if anyone else had seen anyone in there, but they said they were too scared to look back and just got out. Since then, the place had been boarded up, fenced off and eventually torn down. None of us had ever had gone back, and have yet to figure out the mystery of all those dead cats. And I am still haunted by the visions of that tall faceless man just standing there in that hallway.
Originally posted on Lifehacker forums. I also remember a CP poster sharing a very creepy story about being lost in the mountains a few years back.. Would love to read it again.

Cool story bro?

Share yours!

I love hearing stories like these even if they are fake. I'm a sucker for ghost stories.

Here's my creepy story from last night. My wife and I were at home just getting ready to have dinner when we heard our side screen door swing open. That's not unusual because if it doesn't fully get closed the wind will take it and fly it open.

So I said it's just the wind - I'll close it.

I open the main door to close the screen when suddenly there is some dude covered in blood coming through the door.

I managed to push him back and get the door closed and dead bolted.

Called the cops and they came and took him away - sounds like it was some guy who had been in a fight and was probably high or something.

Anyways it was pretty freaky. The guy was a mess and I admit than when I first opened my door and saw him my immediate thought was "ZOMBIE!!!!!".

My mom worked in a hospice for a little over 10 years and she has some cool stories.

Apparently one day a guy with a brain tumour was on his last legs and going on about random non-sensical things (nothing out of the ordinary for him). He kept saying "Time to get on your train Bill, all aboard!". It was a little strange for him to repeat something so much, so my mom found it odd.

During her break she mentioned it to a coworker who noted that there was a guy named Bill who died that morning who had a career as a train conductor. They were on opposite sides of the building and were too sick to ever leave their rooms.

I'm sure there is a logical explanation for it, but I'd rather not know it.

When I was a kid in Winnipeg we lived in a house that was completely creepy, and my mom who's a touch strange at times swears up and down that it was haunted.

It had moving cold spots, if we were sitting on the couch one of us would get cold and then warm and the next person would get cold and warm.

The house made groaning and sighing moves at night, and the shadows in the kids rooms did move around.

My dad swears that he woke up one night and saw a little girl standing at the foot of the bed clutching a very old looking doll and when he tried to talk to her she ran out of the room. Of course the old man liked a drink before bed but who knows.

Our dog hated that house, we bought him in as a puppy and he would sit for hours in the kitchen staring at one corner of the kitchen and would shuffle his paws nervously and if we put his bowl in that corner he would refuse to use it.

My mom had a horrifying accident where she was standing on a ladder to get something from the top shelp of her closet and the thing tipped over and she fell into the wall mirror and cut herself badly.

One night when I was about 7, my parents were at the neighbors house partying and my oldest sister woke me and my other sisters up at 2:00 in the morning, and started pushing us out of the house, which was on fire. I learned later that the fire had suppossedly started in the wall, and the comment from my dad when I asked him years later was that the firemen told him that it was the hardest fire that they had fought and it was like the house was determined to burn to the ground, which it did.

When my dad decided that he wanted to rebuild, my mom refused, and made him take the insurance money, tear down what was left and sell the lot.

Thanks to that ghost, I was also sent to a catholic school in Coaldale Alberta for a year where I endured daily beatings by the Nuns.

If a ghost could laugh, it got its revenge.

I wrote this story before on CP. Here it is again...

"Regarding the heritage houses, I have no idea if they are haunted, but I'll tell you that the ferris wheel there scares the hell out of me. Here's what happened:

Years ago, I was involved in a movie production called "Out of Nowhere." It was one of those Movie of the Week things that often played on TV. There is a scene that required the ferris wheel to be operational. Our lead child actress would get on the ferris wheel with her co-star and a few shots would be taken (I believe this is the carnival scene in the movie). Anyway, after the scene was done, we were getting ready to move on cause it was getting late, and there were a couple more scenes still to be shot and we haven't had our suppers yet. Everyone has gotten off the wheel and our ferris wheel operator shuts the thing down and heads off for supper. As we were eating our supper in the tent, one of the grips yelled that someone had started the wheel and there was a child sitting in it. Sure enough, when we got there the wheel was spinning, and several people kept commenting that they saw a child on it. When we got close enough we didn't see a child, but our ferris wheel operator started to inspect each seat to make sure the kid wasn't hiding. He found nothing.

Creepy thing is, several people (including extras, production crew, and security) weren't too far away from the ferris wheel and heard the wheel start up. When they inspected it, they all believed they saw what looked like a silhouette of a child on one of the ferris wheel's seat. "

Speaking of reddit there is an entire sub reddit for this topic. Have fun but don't read alone in the dark.

This one seems to be happening right now. I think that his last update was at 5:33 Central, which is about half an hour ago.

He says that he is now going upstairs to check it out.

My family has an extremely old cabin out in BC which I visit a couple weeks throughout the summer. There's always a bunch of old junk lying around and every time I go it seems to be a little different than the last. Mostly because it's always occupied throughout the year with family or friends.

One year during my first nights sleep up in the loft I had this strange feeling someone was watching me. I opened my eyes and looked around. I noticed this dark silhouette at the foot of my bed which looked just like a man. I don't normally get scared, or believe in spirits, so I just stared at this trying to figure it out. It was the middle of the night, and the room was very dark, but there was a little moon light seeping through the curtains. I must of stared at this thing for a good minute or 2 waiting for my eyes adjusted to the room I started to realize that it was in fact someone at the end of my bed just standing there starring at me. I then noticed it had eyes. I started to freak out and jumped up and turned the night table lamp on. I then realized that it was a life-size cardboard cutout of Wayne Gretzky for some cereal advertisement. Scared the #### out of me.

He said nothing was there and he felt like a tool for being so scared. An hour later today's updates were gone...

I noticed that. Creepy...

Although I feel for the guy, I was kind of hoping for a dramatic finale.

The attic guy youtube'd his video. There's nobody there, but can you imagine if there was? It would have been pant-shi*ingly terrifying.
