I've been trying to verify TRIM is enabled on my new SSD because I built my own custom Windows image with RT Se7en Lite (got Windows down to about 7GB installed versus 20GB) but manually configured the driver store and services and some registry settings before finalizing the image and I worried I may have impaired SSD functionaliy.

I ran
Code:
>fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify
which from my research indicated it should have resulted in an ouput of disabledeletenotify=0 or 1 to indicate if TRIM was enabled or not. I got disabledeletenotify=48 and I can't find anything online to indicate what this means. Any ideas? I could run
Code:
>fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0
to force it to 0 but don't want to attempt this until I can figure out what the 48 means.

No idea what 48 means but on CrystalDiscInfo 4.1.3, it says under Features that I have Trim along with S.M.A.R.T., 48bit LBA, NCQ and APM.

Maybe the 48bit LBA is related?

Yeah, I have no bloody clue. The Microsoft documentation indicates this can only be 0 or 1. I've only found two other forum posts in Google-land that confirms 48 can sometimes come up but no answers.

I made the mistake of doing a RAID 0 configuration with my 2 SSD drives.

TRIM isn't supported on a RAID 0 configuration on my older MOBO. So performance has slowed quite a bit. I will need to do a manual wipe of both drives and rebuild everything back up.

I did read that TRIM will be supported on RAID 0 soon.

Maybe if you download CrystalDiskInfo or another hard drive information program, it will tell you if Trim is enabled or not.

Another SSD manufacturer in firmware troubles!

Man I thought my BSOD every 2 to 14 days was annoying, but every hour?!

That's strange because M4s have been out for so long but then again, it says after 5000 hours of use?

I have the one behind the M4 with the orange sticker - the C300 which is perfectly fine. The older C300's performance actually beats the M4 in random reads/writes.

Yeah, after 5000 hours then this kind of bug? Bizarre, but I guess there's probably something in the algorithms that kick in after a while.

Maybe something to do with switching over to provisioned space once you've used up your write cycles on certain sectors? But wait, that should take at least 2-3 years at the least unless you are a heavy, heavy user. 5000 hours is only about 7 months.

lol, Tigerdirect put the pre-rebate price as the advertised post-rebate price

I know Agility 3's aren't the fastest (like Vertex) but how do they compare with other drives like the Intel 320 series?

Pretty favorably I'd say, there's not a huge difference between the Vertex 3 and Agility 3 actually.

Hey guys... sorry if this has been already covered in this thread:

Looking to replace the HD in my laptop with a SSD. What are the highest rated manufacturers in this field? I read to stay away from OCZ and Kingston... what are some of the good ones?

Don't need a high capacity drive... 80-128GB will do just fine. Thanks in advance!

Anecdotal, but I've had a great experience so far with my OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 3G on a Macbook Pro.

This is also a pretty good site for detailed storage hardware reviews.

So I just bought a new Dell computer which came in a RAID 0 configuration (2 x 1 TB Disks). I went out and bought an SSD, and wanted to reconfigure my machine and load the OS on the SSD, and convert the RAID 0 to a RAID 1 to load my media on.

I called Dell Tech Support, and they say the RAID must contain the OS, otherwise it can't run as RAID. Is this true??

You should just be able to put in the SSD, specify that as the boot drive and load the OS on it and the RAID drive should show up in the new OS as long as it has the correct drivers.
