Manny actually wouldn't be a bad fit since the rumor is that any deal would be a minor league deal. I don't know if he'll actually do anything, but it's the type of high risk/low reward free agent contract the Jays should be looking at until their youth starts paying off at the MLB level. If he looks like he can play, the Jays get him on the cheap. If not, they cut their ties with him in spring training.

Heh.
As far as Manny goes. I could see it, he won't cost much and the Jays could use a RH Platoon Bat... Not sure there's an active roster slot for him though given his lack of defensive skill.
He would help a ton vs lefties. I don't see him coming here because he won't get the playing time he could elsewhere. The whole idea of him ruining team chemistry or anything along that line, is overblown and would have no effect on the team. At least there's some BlueJays related news to keep us busy
He's suspended for 50 games is he not? That means if he were to play, he'd only play 1/3 into the season at best. I'm not sure about the guy. He's messed up too many times with the drug issues and laissez-faire attitude, to think he's going to chanage at this point of his career. We'll always chalk it up to Manny being Manny, but his former teams know better than to bother with the guy.

He is suspended for 50 games yes, that being said any contract he signs would be a minor league one with a spring training invite. Farrell has a very strong relationship it sounds like from when he was with the Red Sox and Ramirez loves Toronto. I don't think it's going to happen, I'm not necessarily pulling for it, but I think it would be a move that has a very minimal risk factor.

While I agree with the baseball side low risk, the PR storm around the signing of a guy convicted of PED has a lot more of a risk to it, even if he doesn't make it out of spring training.
The PR and media circus that he'll draw when he's back in the league near the end of May if he makes it, has potential to be a big distraction for a team, management team, and ownership, that is pretty squeaky clean reputation wise.
Starting to get really excited about this team again as spring training is getting closer and getting to hear all the positive press come out these last few weeks about how well equipped this organization is moving forward with the incredible amount of depth.
Ya nothing really beats the thought of spring training right around the corner, as not only can we look forward to warmer days, but the smell of fresh cut grass, roasted peanuts, scorecards, and the Jays giving it another run in the AL East.

Happy times are nearly here ladies and gents!!!
I get more excited for Spring Training then I do for any other form of pre-season. So much hope and excitement, and great storylines... Seattle Pitchers and Catchers reported today, I know for the Redsox we're 8 days away... Can't wait!

Can't wait to see the continued development of Lawrie, Rasmus (fingers crossed) and the young arms in the rotation. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
The Jays should be one of the funnest teams to watch in 2012.
