I fell asleep around 2:30, woke up at 4:30, so I missed most of the 2nd and 3rd set. Rafa's game seems to be waking up, as well!

Nearly 6hrs and Djokovic emerges the deserved winner. Nadal missed a wide open forehand at 30-15 4-2 up in the 5th and that was the turning point.

He's beaten Nadal 7x in a row including 3 slam finals. Impressive.

Yup.. wide open court.. but before that in the 4th set Djokovic blew 4-3 0-40.

This match had everything.

I PVR'd this and planned to watch it in the morning. TSN text ruined it for me.

I pvrd it but the game went too long and missed the ending. I should have pvrd the next show after it. Oh well they'll probably re play it today. Congrats to Joker you really pissed off my wife. Which of course I like cause no man likes to see his wife in love with another man, Nadal!

Watched pretty much from start to finish, happy to have seen one of the greatest matches of all time, but also kind of annoyed that the same result could have been reached a couple hours earlier and let me get back to bed before sunrise. It's hard to tell if Nadal is really crushed by this, or encouraged that this one was closer than the previous encounters. He probably realizes by now that hard court is Djoker's kingdom and anything he can get out of it would just be bonus. If Nadal were to lose his FO crown, I think there would be some serious tears during the speeches.

Speaking of which, what was with endless sponsor/tourney official speeches at the end? Sure go up and say a couple of words, but nobody wants to hear you drone about what a great job you and your company did. Get the two warriors on there so they can do their thank yous, get photos taken, and then get off the bloody court to celebrate and/or get a rub-down.

I had to crash before the 5th set. That was one long match. After looking at the 5th set score I am glad I decided to go to bed since I would have been up for another hour at least. Great match though was very entertaining

Canada's lineup is set. Raonic, Pospisil, Dancevic and Nestor.
Raonic has the week off, Pospisil and Dancevic will be in challengers in Germany.

There's trouble in the french camp.

http://www.liberation.fr/depeches/01...squet-et-simon

Tsonga is the only one off this week. Everyone else is going against the wishes of captain Guy Forget and will play in Montpellier France. Gasquet thinks he won't be picked anyways so what's the big deal, he wants to play in Montpellier, his home town. Llodra the doubles guy had called for players to boycott Montepellier as well.

So if two frenchmen make the Sunday Montpellier final, I'm not sure they will be in a position to fly to Vancouver to play in Friday's singles.

I PVRd the final and extended by an hour and a half, even that wasn't enough. Luckily, by the time I finished the recording I had, the TSN coverage replay was only about 45mins behind where I was.

What a great match. I could do without all the stupid random high speed shots after every serve. Just because you can cut to something at every possible moment doesn't mean you should...

Good to see Dancevic back in there and I'm glad he and Tennis Canada are back on good terms. I really like that lineup.

Canada fires the first shot.

http://www.theprovince.com/sports/Ca...599/story.html

France can boast four players in the ATP’s top 20, so whomever they announced as their Davis Cup team on Tuesday, Canada was coming out the underdog for the Feb. 10-12 World Group tie at UBC.
But Canada’s captain Martin Laurendeau wasn’t afraid to poke at a potential soft spot in the French fortress.
“If [Gael] Monfils gets to play,” he said of the world No. 13, “we all know he’s beatable.
“He can win a tournament any given week, but he’s had his share of counter-performances. Hopefully, it’s one of those weeks.”

Monfils won a long semifinal today and will play Berdych tomorrow in Montpellier.

I hope he gets really tired!

It's Davis Cup week!

Quote:
World No.13 Gael Monfils, who could not defend his Open Sud de France title in Montpellier, falling to Tomas Berdych in the final, revealed he had considered not playing. “I was unsure on Saturday evening whether to play because my knee had swollen,” Monfils admitted. “I waited until after warming up in the morning to decide.”
Monfils is due to travel to Vancouver with his French team-mates, but he will undergo tests before taking a decision. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga leads the French team, while Monfils was picked ahead of Gilles Simon.
“I'm going to undergo a little examination before heading for Canada because this knee is ruining my life and I don't want to take any risks for the rest of the season. I don't want to be a burden on the France team. I'm ready for anything, including just playing the final day.”

Wonderful! Davis Cup is all about a loud crowd.

The French usually have a fragile mentality. Last year they played Austria in the airport hangar and BARELY survived.

What are the rules regarding cheering? Just quiet during serves and rallies then rowdy all other times? I can't seem to find any crowd videos during rallies just pre and post
