Looks like they have a suspect in mind, and it is not the husband.

http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/ca...126/story.html

Although this is playing out as I anticipated. Crime committed on tourist, need to have swift justice, find homeless Mexican, pick him up, and convict him, rinse hands. Gotta love 3rd world justice.

Sorry, being a bit cynical. I just find it funny that they always catch the "perpetrator of the crime" overnight in these countries. Like their corrupt detectives seem to magically find these guys ASAP with superior crime solving skills.

To be clear, in no way am I saying the husband did anything. Just really skeptical they cought the right guy.

Fair enough.

In due time she should be able to say if it was him or not.

We shall see.

Latest news is that she was flown back to Calgary under heavy security and secrecy last night.

CTV is reporting this, as well, on their morning news.

Heavy security and secrecy? That must mean someone thinks it wasn't just a random drunken tourist that did this. I dismissed the possibility that it was organized crime from the start, but her family must believe that it was.

Good.

Her quality of care in Canada will be much better than in Mexico, not to mention I would think her continued safety will be better here.

Welcome home Nabb's, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

That is how QR reported it when the breaking news came across at 5:30 this morning, but nowhere in the CTV story does it state either of those conditions.

Another twist from the CTV story:

There are also unconfirmed reports that a Canadian tourist with bruising on his knuckles is a prime suspect in the case.

See! It's not Mexico . . . it's those damn dirty Canadians that you need to be worried about!

It being a Canadian would be more consistent with the governor's awkward "domestic violence" comment.

She made some remark about going for a dive (maybe a scuba dive or a dive in the pool).
Some stupid-drunk Canucks fan overhears and thinks it's a cheap shot against his home team.
Goes into riot-crazy attack mode.

I knew a Canucks fan was responsible. I think now that we have solved this mystery, and proven without a doubt, a Canucks fan is responsible, we can close the thread.

The herald has details on the Air Ambulance crew that flew down from Hamilton.

Quote:
Sheila Nabb touched down in Calgary early Thursday morning, transported from Mazatlan by a private air ambulance company and with her husband travelling at her side, according to the pilot who says he flew the aircraft.

The Learjet 35 carrying Nabb, her husband Andrew, a doctor, nurse and a respiratory technician touched down at Calgary International Airport at 8:42 a.m., according to the Hamilton, Ont.-based Latitude Aeromedical Works pilot.

Take this with a grain of salt but...

Calgary Sun @calgarysun Mexican media reports say charges have been laid in the Sheila Nabb beating. The unidentified suspect faces a count of attempted murder.

Quoted from Huffington post:
"CBC News is reporting that Mexican authorities have made an arrest in the beating of Canadian tourist Sheila Nabb.
Mexican news site Linea Directa and CBC are reporting that the suspect in the attack is Jose Ramon Acosta, a Mexican national who spoke English and apparently frequented hotels and other tourist hotspots.
He was reportedly identified with a fingerprint and a blood sample. Earlier this week it was reported that Mexican investigators were looking through surveillance footage which showed a man in his 20s attacking Nabb."
