I am terribly sorry to have so grossly inconvenienced you by posting a thread three and a half months after it had shown up here, due to my vastly inadequate search function skills. I hope you are somehow able to see past this grievous breach of forum etiquette and move forward with your life.

Yes. I don't think Enmax allows credit card payments, but Shaw does.

What kind of fees do you guys get hit with, if I may be so bold?

The MBNA card is $89 annually with 2% cash back on everything. The RBC card is $20 annually with 1% cash back on everything.
For me, this works. For others, it probably doesn't.

This is bad/wrong information. The MBNA cash-back card is FREE. You get 5% back on gas and groceries the first 6 months, and 3% thereafter. Again, this card is not advertised - you have to phone MBNA and ask for it.

My MBNA card is free. It has no annual fee at all. (I just looked at the card's website, looks like there is no fee for people upgrading to the World version from the regular SmartCash card, otherwise there is a fee).
I just looked up my exact card. It's called the MBNA Smart Cash World Mastercard. It does require a $70,000 annual income, however the non-World version doesn't require that high of an income (I believe).
You get 3 points per dollar spent on gas and groceries (5 points during promotion period), 1 point per dollar after the $600 monthly cap limit (calendar month NOT statement cycle month), and 1 point per dollar for everything else. Once you reach 5000 points, a $50 cheque will be sent to you. Cheque usually gets to you in 6-8 weeks (YMMV, could be less) after the statement where you reach 5000 points.

I see it advertised right on the MBNA.ca home page.
Here's the application page: https://www.applyonlinenow.com/CACCa...=CMSF&lc=en_CA

Depends on how much volume you do, I do very little CC volume. Pretty sure right now the rate is over 3%.

This sounds like the MBNA SmartCash card. Is this the same one? I have the platinum version of this one.

Hi Vlad,
I upgraded my card to the world version over the phone, but didn't get a new card (I already had the new blue one, as my old silver one was compromised).
Does it say World anywhere on it? I want to ensure that I got switched over properly. My blue one only says "Smart cash" and "mbna paypass"

Mine has "WORLD" in thin white letters on the right just above the CC number.

With mbna offering such a crazy good cash back... What's the incentive to pay for less at a Bank like scotia or Cibc? Td gives you .5 then 1% on their free card.... Seems so non competitive

Bah, thanks.
They never actually upgraded me. Was hoping to get 5% cash back on my wedding. Jerks.

Interesting, I'm glad I came into this thread. Right now my wife and I both have an Airmiles Gold Mastercard which gives 1 airmile for every $15 spent, but it's got a $99 annual fee.
My wife has always been keen on collecting airmiles, but I'm starting to think it's somewhat gimmicky and especially with the annual fee tacked on.

Money Sense ran the numbers (I want to say it was two issues back) and Aspire came out as best travel card - you get a huge sign-up bonus, and you get a bonus on your annual fee. It's basically a 2% travel cash-back card plus the bonus.
