New expansion goes live tomorrow, (although some servers actually went live last night).
That's good. After playing a lot to level up lately, I'm a little tired of this game. Most of the time, everyone plays like headless chicken trying to shoot someone.

That's the problem with the game, if there was some way to force you to play in a more comprehensive and realistic way it would be a better game.
I mentioned before that when I first started playing it was with a group of friends and we decided on set positions right from the start.
A couple of guys would be pilots and provide air support, we'd have guys that would take over artillary and anti aircraft positions, we had tank drivers dedicated infantry, and in 1942 people who would drive ships and do shell bombardment while we rushed the shore.
We always played against another group of guys who would do the same thing, and if you had guys that would just rush around your team would lose.
But there was nothing like calling in an air strike or a artillary bombardment then see a couple of tanks or an APC emerging from a tree line while Infantry secured positions and medics would save lives.
Now its just some idiot jumping into a plane and wobbling around while a Tank Driver runs over his own guy and topples buildings that his team mates are in.

Yeah, I joined a league "Rogue Saint" 5 years ago playing BF2. It was definitely more fun when you assign responsibilities to the players. However, it just took too much time to get organized to start the games, not good for a quickie just before bed time.
The only goal for the game, to me, is to level up. Perhaps a more scenario based game play could help. Like one side could hold up a base and the other side could try to take the base. Only give vehicles to the offensive side and not to the defensive side to balance things out. It'll call for different strategies for the two sides to make it fun.
I remember in 1942 we did the Wake Island map which is still the best map ever made.
We had a large group on the Island as the Japanese, and a large group of players as Americans.
I think we had the max number of players.
We had a beach invasion happening with artillary support from the ships, while landing craft were getting creamed by Shore Batteries,
We had a dog fight happening in the air, while a Japanese plane buzzed in and gunned the Carrier. Meanwhile the Destroyer that had moved in shore with all guns manned moved back out to support the carrier and the fighter attacking the carrier was shot down by anti aircraft fire.
There were joke points and ambushes through the Island Snipers hiding on the hills going against each other and armor and transports pushing up the road towards the central base.
Meanwhile the american's on the beach were pinned down by fixed bunkers and they had to painfully clear them out.
About halfway through the battle the Japanese guys realized that they were getting cut down and retreated from the base into the tree lines and made life merry hell for the American's who had to move up hills to take them.
The battle lasted two hours.
It was a great experience flying in a American fighter, tipping over to look down and seeing about 4 or 5 battles happening at the same time with artillary explosions and seeing assualt boats crawling towards the beach full of troops.

Don't anyone rush home to play - Origin has been down for almost 4 hours now with no status updates on a fix time.
One day, far in the future, EA will fix the network troubles they've had in nearly every game and service they've produced for the last 10 years. The sun will then immediately implode
I usually stick to what I know. Once I unlock some new stuff after maybe i'll give it a shot. Also comes down to how many kills I got with that gun, since you get medals every 200 kills (i think its 200)
Just started playing this week and man do I ever suck but it's funny because looking through this thread I'm pretty sure I recognize some online ID's that were absolutely pwning me.

I havent even played an original map since the expansion came out. It's been all Expansion - all the time. I only play late @ night due to my job, and man, the hacking is out of control during non-primetime.

I think it's pretty much all the time now.
We were playing last night and one guy was 75-10 making the most ridiculous kills. It's frustrating because the game is so much fun but when you add idiots that hack to the mix it makes me want to smash my computer.
In other BF3 news, we went on an absolute anti-air tear last night. 1 guy with SOFLAM, 1 with Javelin and 1 guy with Ammo packs is nearly unstoppable, (just needed 1 more Javelin player and we would have been perfect).

I wish I knew more people that played so I could join a team and do this kind of stuff. Any xbox BF3'ers out there?
so me being a n00b, what does everyone play? I usually play the team deathmatch but is that not the best thing? When do you get to use aircraft and other vehicles?
I could probably read up but i'm sure one of my cp peeps will fill my lazy ass in.

I do a similar thing in a tank with 2 friends since we all have the CITV seat in the tank unlocked. Basically just park the tank in the open somewhere. The guy in the CITV seat targets aircraft, driver shoots them down with the laser guided shell, and the gunner looks out for anyone trying to C4/rocket the tank.
You can really wreak havoc on other tanks too since the laser guided shell and the regular shell are on separate ammo timers. So you shoot a laser guided shell, regular shell, laser guided, etc, and you can get twice as many shots off as the other guy.
We go on real tears sometimes. The only way we really get killed is if the other team gets co-ordinated enough to get 3-4 engineers with rockets to attack us all at once or if we get multiple aircraft on us.
