A Pentagon official has confirmed to the BBC that the unit involved was the elite Seal Team Six, which killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan last May, although the same personnel were not necessarily involved.
Seal Team Six suffered heavy losses last August in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan which killed 38 people.

I have no stomach for politics, no desire to have my life rummaged through in the course of a campaign, and no real calling for public service, but the thought of being able to kick back and watch a best of Seal Team 6 highlight video might have been enough to convince me to run for President if I were american.

Canada has a fairly expansive special forces community that's not really talked about. It raised serious problems when the cat was let out of the bag about JTF2, the government has a policy in place that their operations are not for public consent.
Canadian Special operations Regiment was formed in 2005, they wear a distinctive tan beret.
