Default Happy Robbie Burns Day!

Well, its The Bard's birthday. Not to be confused with 'The Immortal Bard.' One was English, this one is Scottish, he liked Scotch and Haggis and not warm beer.

I dont know about the rest of you, but I'm hitting up a Scotch tasting tonight like I do every year!

A glass raised to Robbie!

If you find a very peaty Scotch let me know. Octomore 3 would be nice.

Will do. I'm not a an of peaty scotch, but I guarantee there will be some at the tasting.

I've never understood the appeal of peaty scotch, its like licking the water off the Loch Ness monster's balls.

Blasphemy! Nothing pumps my nads more than downing a glass of liquid campfire smoke!

Noted, not for me, a friend enjoys licking lawns and the bottom of BBQ's. Hence, his affinity to the more peaty varieties.

I am having Bruichladdich and haggis tonight.

I have a haggis in the fridge. Seriously.

I don't remember buying one, but there it is.

Haha, my old neighbour is Scottish and usually makes a traditional dinner, but hes in Scotland this year, and I work next door to a Scottish Butcher Shop, that stuff is flying off the shelves today.

Not my cup of tea, I'll stick to Scotch.

Still not too late to attend the Robbie Burns Supper tonight at the Millarville Racetrack Hall.

Dual bagpipers tooting in the Haggis, Highland Dancers, toasting the Bardat frequent intervals, some poetry-reading . . . . and, in addition to Haggis, roast beef for those with a queasy stomachs.

All for $35 for adults, $20 for kids.

Call the Racetrack hall at 403-931-3411 for tickets if you are out that way. Starting to look like a full house though.

Willowpark does it right every time! i have been to 4 or 5 tastings there, and all were good!! the last one i went to, i discovered i like the 'Lesser expensive' types. the $600 a bottle types were a bit like Listerine, or Gas. All were single Barrel scotch, meant to be sent for blending. rare and good!! however, midweek tastings are a bit hard on the following work day!

I have tried Lagavulin, it's like sipping a cow pie cocktail. I don't understand the peaty appeal...to each their own I guess.

I shall be one hurting poster tomorrow.

This is my 3rd Willowpark Scotch tasting and I've always found something new that I enjoy.

I've done two of them, and I'd recommend them much more than I'd ever go to Beerfest ever again.

We still have to talk taxes you and I. I'm leaving for Vegas on Feb.9th, when I come back I'll be in the thick of tax season, so before that would probably be ideal.
