Tot left in car in frigid Calgary weather
http://www.calgarysun.com/2012/01/19...ratures-plunge
Quote:
Emergency crews were forced to break into a vehicle Thursday to tend to a tot left alone in a vehicle as temperatures plunged below -20 C.
Crews rushed to Country Village Link, near Cardel Place in the city’s northwest, after someone reported seeing the 13-month-old asleep in the car at about 2 p.m., the vehicle not running.
“There was a child in a car seat,” EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux said.
|
The stupidity of some people simply amazes me. What is going through the mind of someone that leaves a baby in a car in temperatures like this? Can you even blame this person? They must be ######ed.

Investigators aren’t sure why the babysitter went into Cardel Place or why she chose to leave the little girl behind when she did.
|
Ummm, couldn't you just ask her? She probably ran into Jugu Juice

You freeze one kid and suddenly you're made out to be Hitler. Aren't kids a renewable resource anyway?

Thing is, it sounds like the parents left their 13 month old with this person for a while (out of country). Questionable choice.

One of my favorite things about Calgarypuck is newer posters who don't get CP humor, and respond as if the post was serious.
You can tell they're just sitting in front of their computer going "okay, time to become a message board poster, this should be easy"

"wait, what? Kid's aren't a renewable resource, you idiot. Okay, time to become a message board star, let's see, how will I burn this individual, for his lack of understanding in the field of renewable resources? I know, I'll use a snarky, 90's simpsons reference. People will be quoting my post and typing out "thanks" as a response to my wit. Wow, message board posting is easier than I thought.

Why would you leave an infant alone in a car in any weather?

Yeah... I will not even leave the kid in the car to run into the convenience store.
This is horrible...

I think you're forgetting about the possibility that something happens to you that makes you unable to get back in "10" minutes. And why is leaving a kid unattended even up for debate? even in good weather you shouldn't leave a child in a car. But anyways heres a couple scenarios that could happen.
Scenario 1: You get out of the Starbucks after buying your frappacino machacino and slip on some ice and get knocked unconscious. You're not going to be able to tell anyone that your kid is in the car slowly freezing to death.
Scenario 2: You meet a person on the street selling super awesome stereos at a low price because their manager accidentally over stocked their white van. Now 10 minutes turns into 30 minutes and you obviously forgot about your child because if you are stupid enough to leave a kid in the car unattended you probably have a terrible memory.

I agree with this. Ever since having my child, I wish there we're more drive thru's!
Especially for liquor stores, but I doubt that would go over well.

I always remember waiting in the car in any weather as a kid.... "Lock the door!"
in the summer we could crack open the windows a bit to!
