Showing my lack of car-guy knowledge, should we add air to "low" tires when it's this cold and then have overinflated tires when it warms up?

It's so cold you could read the temperature in Fahrenheit thinking it's Celsius and still say it's f***ing cold

It's so cold on my way to work this morning my car thermometer read ---, apparently it doesn't go under -30.

Depends on a few factors. How low are your tires? For example mine usually take 36 pounds, and were down to 30 pounds. In that case I would not add air. If you are below 25 pounds then maybe.

However I would only add air if you have access to a heated garage. Compressed air also contains that much more moisture per litre of air, so the air coming out is more humid. At tempatures like this you could end up having a valve freeze open; which would make things worse.

This. I grew up in Brandon and I can confirm the "no breaks from the cold" winters we had. One of the things I love about Calgary is that this weather seldom last for more than a few days.

If you have Green Nitrogen Caps on the valve stems it also could mean a flat rate tech did not put nitrogen in your tires but just put the green caps on and sent it out the door.

I feel that if it's colder than it ever gets hot (ie/ colder than -29 or -30 since our warmest days are usually 29/30 above), then I will bitch and moan.

It's been so cold that bitching about it is actually justifiable!
