It's been quite incredible to be alive and witness to the ideological shift that's taken place over the past couple decades. A video like this shows how far we have truly come.
So many brave souls in that footage. Martyrs and gallants. Bless them all.
Maybe the most profound to me has been the "It gets better" campaign on youtube that went viral. To comprehend its origin and purpose is heartbreaking. Life becoming so unbearable for so many gay youths that a lifeline was needed, cast out to these drowning kids. You are loved. You aren't alone. Just hold on and you'll see life gets better.
And then for so many people to jump on board. Gays and straights. Celebrities, athletes, politicians, and everyday citizens. They're all little gestures that add up to something grand.

Phil championed gay rights long before it became fashionable or trendy or socially acceptable. He was there in the beginning when it was gutsy and courageous to be on our side. He bucked the public tide to be supportive of homosexuals. His comments are therefore revealing and intriguing, a reminder of how far we have come:
"It's unbelievable to think about the power and the warp speed of this revolution," Donahue said during his acceptance. "Twenty years ago when I proudly accepted the first GLAAD Media Award...it was a very small crowd. There are more photographers here tonight than there were people then….And now, we look up in 2009, and [the LGBT community] is popular. The majority of the people in the nation agree with us. Our job now is to summon these people to stand up and say so out loud. To tell them to join us. To march the lavender line with us down Fifth Avenue, and to remind them, when they do join us, they're going to meet a lot of nice people."
Watching videos like that make it really hard to read posts from certain members of CP in various threads, when they run their mouths about their views of homosexuality, and comprehend how they have those views now a days.
You guys know who you are, and it's pretty sickening.
