I don't think this was racially motivated at all. I think like 4 or 5 of the attackers were Asians themselves. This should just be called 'kid jumped by 7 idiots'

What I am wondering though, was if calling the kid "Asian" was needed or just calling him kid would be just as good.

I think the word Asian is relevant. It's a racially motivated attack, isn't it? I didn't watch the video after reading the comments.

"Asian kid jumped by 7 other Asian and non-Caucasian kids in Chicago" would have been a much catchier title.

Still, I don't think I have seen headlines that read "white guy assaulted by white guy" or "black guy assaulted by black guy". It's kind of telling when there is a racial difference that people feel the need to highlight it, instead of just saying that a bunch of idiot kids attacked another kid.

I feel for the guy... but if he was part of that earlier attack I suddenly don't feel much for him

Brutal beating by little punks, but don't know the whole story.

Seems like the sort of thing I saw almost weekly as a teenager in Calgary. 7-1 is more common then 1-1 now. Middle class gangsters are everywhere.

I gotta admit, I don't get a lot of that. I don't get the videotaping, I don't get why some are wearing masks and some aren't, and I certainly don't get why the 'N' word was being thrown around so much. The whole scene is just strange. I couldn't watch the whole thing, the whole scenario is just so sad. I feel embarrassed for all those kids.

This fight was suppposely caused by a picture of the grey hoodie guy. His face was cut and paste on to some animal. Still through, I hope the 7 including the camera guy get what they deserve. It's just sickening.

Apparently the motive was retaliation from a previous assault....

I don't know about that. The kid getting beat up didn't throw a single punch, seemed to me like he was trying to talk it out.

I hope every one of those kids are thrown in jail.

Hope all of these kids get what is coming to them for such a cowardly act.

The victim was quite lucky, with the exception of a few of the kicks to the face there weren't many blows that would've done much damage.
I used punch harder play fighting.

I still don't get the group beating thing, I have a Vietnamese foster kid right now and he and his buddies do it, he was honestly shocked I told him they were just all a bunch of bitchmate pussies that wouldn't last 2 minutes on a tier (jail), in his world being able to jump a kid and pound them when they don't have a chance makes you tough!

The guys who jumped the kid probably weren't even from Chicago. I bet they were from Bedford and Cook County and had to take a bridge or tunnel into town.

Never cool to see even a 2 on 1 fight let alone 7 on 1...but I suspect the victim isn't exactly the innocent type either.

As lame and cliche as us older guys here seem, I am with Captain on this one. Even though Captain used to trash my dads fence every time he fought....but I digress...

I fought A LOT in school. Probably once a month, at least. And through all those fights, never was there a swarming like that. It was alway one on one. I was in scenarios where it was just me, and a whole group of other guys, where I was fighting one of them. When the fight was done, it was done. When you quit, tapped out.. whatever you wanna call it, it was done. There was a certain honour to it. Yeah, buddy would have sat on your chest or vice versa, and talked some crap for a minute or two, but you wouldn't throw haymaker sucker punched from behind.

I had a fight in High School, where me and a guy from a rival hockey team, had an epic brawl, I knocked out 4 of his teeth, he trashed my eye where it is still a little droopy to this day, and after all was said and done, we got suspended, walked home together all bandaged up, and his mom, called mine for a referral to a her friend that was a dentist, not to threaten a lawsuit. That was only 20 years ago... it is weird how things have changed so much in a short time.
