Its a no brainer...well except for those that want to argue tradition...but we all know tradition has nothing to do with anything any longer.

Half empty stadiums might have something to do with it. People are going to save their travel money in hopes of making the title game. Arkansas @ Ohio State in Arizona for the quarterfinals just isn't going to sell out a 100k seat stadium.

I don't think the Bowls would be part of the playoffs. The semifinals and finals would be so big that bidding would be open to any stadium. It could be an NFL stadium or it could even be another college stadium. It would be like bidding for the Super Bowl or the basketball final four.
Imagine the NCAA football final at Cowboys Stadium or Georgia Dome or somewhere like that.
I think the Rose Bowl for example would remain the same. Pac-12 champ against Big-10 champ and if those champs are in the semifinals then take the next team etc...

Actually i guess they could use the regular season to establish the bowl games as they always have...and then re-seed/use the bowl results to establish a final 4...or 8 when they eventually get there.
Sort of a compromise for every interest?

That might be too many games. Play a regular season, plus a bowl game, plus the playoffs.
Also the NFL playoffs start the 2nd week of January, when are these playoffs going to be played? NFL takes over the weekend. You'd have to play the "quarterfinals" on Monday and Tuesday or something.

last night could be one semi and the second could be playing right now as an example.... the final can be played on a monday night as it already is....if not use the 5 weeks of inactivity already just sitting there and have the PO games the first 2 weekends of january
i have a suspicion that all PO games will be exclusive to espn anyhow, and as such they have an open slate of times to use as the networks wont be involved and the mothership doesnt carry nfl po games

Oregon QB Darron Thomas declares for the NFL Draft. I don't think he even gets picked.

Got his degree and felt he couldn't improve his draft stock anymore. Guy was a great game manager but beyond that he didn't real do anything that well. Hopefully either Bryan Bennett are Marcus Mariotta can come in, gain some experience against some buttery soft OOC opponents and keep the wheels of the Ducks offence rolling full steam ahead.

the only equitable and fair way to know is to let it happen on the field...afterall this is what its all about....right?

And how do you propose that happen then? Balanced schedules over 117 week seasons so everyone plays everyone else? There are simply too many teams in too many leagues "to let it happen on the field". College football, just like college basketball, will always need to incorporate an element of human judgement in determining who is going to be involved in a playoff or title game, there's simply no other feasible manner to accomplish the goal.
I agree that preseason rankings play too much of a role, but that has diminished with the introduction of the BCS. Nothing about preseason rankings determined whether LSU or Bama was in the title game, it was about their performance over the year and a brutal loss by OSU.

This is going to be an ugly few days in the media and how some people are going to react to this on both sides of the fence.

Or not.
CBS Sports is getting roasted on twitter for the early, and apparently incorrect announcement.

Because ticket prices would be ######ed high for those games. Besides you could get tickets for under face value to the sugar bowl this year. I'm sure it was the same for the orange bowl too.
