Well to quote directly from the BOM (Book of Mormon):

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my bugle upon thee."

Well, as you can see, the mormon version differs ever so slightly. Here's another relevant passage:

Is it okay to start debating religion versus atheism yet? Because I'm pretty sure it's a rule around here any time anything religious comes up.

I always wondered why the Utah Jazz decided to keep their name when they moved from New Orleans, but now it all makes sense!

Moroni = Bugle = Trumpet = Jazz!

The angel Moroni came down from heaven and dictated (basically) the book of Mormon to Joseph Smith.

Frankly, as far a identifiable minorities go the Mormon people are pretty good. They all seem to have jobs, they keep their stuff clean, and they're usually polite. Aside from knocking on my door I can't really complain about them.

Their leadership is another story, but I can't think of any large organization whose upper management I'm in love with.

Seriously hope that temple isn't as gauche as their drawing put it up to be.

Magic under-roos and an angel named Moroni? Seems par for the course, that.

Theres your Peace Bridge every year.

And this isnt picking on Mormons... I have an issue with these amounts anywhere being spent on opulent Churches. When did pride become such a core religious value?
Let me clarify, since you obviously missed some key points.

- Almost half of the adults in a normal LDS church are not employed- as they are stay at home moms, so I actually used 80k per year (or 40k per person), which is above the 55k you are saying is average.

- about 10% of LDS tithe is spent on Temples and missionary work, according to my brief research this afternoon. I am willing to say that all of that 10% is used for temple, which is absurd since we all know there are far to many Mormon missionaries for the average CP poster to be happy about.

20 x 200 x 40k x 10% x 10% = 1.6 million.

Since you feel the need to compare that to the Peace Bridge (for some reason) that's one peace bridge every 15 years.

I do understand your concern, but using this temple, one of only 150 in the world as your target, is a bit absurd, considering the drop in the bucket it is.

I'd also like to add that most Mormon women I've encountered seem to be quite hot!

This is true. I created a slightly offensive theory about this while visiting the temple in Salt Lake City (when in Rome....)

Anyway, it's more than slightly offensive.
