This gaggle of Geese went flying by really quick, I was able to track and capture them just as they passed the skyline.
Seen at 300mm and f/11 (Nikkor 70-300mm VR)

I apologize for interrupting the stream of great photos in this thread but I thought this would be the best place to have my question answered.
I'm looking to take a city scape photo of downtown calgary but with the mountains in the background. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can go to get the angle I need?

Anywhere above Deerfoot looking West can work if you have a decent zoom.
I'd probably stick to Tom Campbell hill above Bridgeland.

I'd say if you want the mountains to have any prominence in the background, 300mm would be the ticket? Yes/No? 200mm?
I'm talking for having the mountains look 'big' in the background, due to the telephoto compression.
I'm guessing anytime you whip out the Tokina 11-16 for a skyline shot, the mountains are barely distinguishable.

With all the snow melted around Calgary (as of yesterday), this "au naturel" panorama shows how brown and dull it can be during the Winter months.
This 36 image panorama highlights the Rocky Mountains and the downtown core and everything in between.

Yeah, a big zoom 200-300 would be ideal.
It's tough from the Deerfoot spots as the Mountains are kinda south of the core.

I just want to say that this is an AWESOME photograph. Its like looking at something in 3D. The geese just jump right out at you! How on earth did you manage to focus on the geese so perfectly? ... and flying geese at that!
